Show first thread message

What I would like to do is to specify in a single forum that vb should show the first posted thread message in the forum view.

It would be a bit like a blog or a news view. So on one page you could see all news threads and if you wanted to reply you could click on the thread to see the whole message. Just so you dont have to click and enter every single thread.

Is there anyway to do that?

It would need a lot of rewriting of some of the templates, but if you can give more details as to how you want it to work (preferably with pictures) then I can see if it will be possible, and if so write it up.
