Many things have happened in my life in the last 6months including major health scares and exams. But now I'm past this, and plan on developing and releasing the first stable version of my SEO modification sometime very soon.

All that is left to do is iron out a few inconsistencies and complete my sitemap generation tool.

I look forward to sharing my work with you shortly :)

Regards,
- Dean

I'm almost ready to release. Just waiting on some feedback from the staff :)

Will this be a paid script? Are you looking for beta testers?

Dean C
06-18-2006, 10:30 AM
There will be a lite version which contains all the features that was previously in the last version, and a pro version which will contain a sitemap generator and more :) Yes I am looking for beta testers for the latest version, and if anyone has a forum with over 10k threads I'll give them a license for free in return for helping. Only people with 10k+ threads should send me a PM!

Derek

Is there any way it can be for 10k posts? I have a site that just opened a few weeks ago and is quite active, already at almost 10k posts and almost 500 threads.

Dean C

Sorry Derek, I need forums with a large numbers of threads as I've tested the sitemap generator on a forum with 10k posts already. Now I need something quite large to get an estimate of how it scales. Thank you for your interest though

How much will a license cost then?

melefire

Yes, how much and will the lite version ahve a ton less features or no?

Sorry, but by site rules, Dean can't discuss price here.

Dean C

There is nothing that says I cannot mention the price in the rules. (Price removed) and the lite version that I am releasing here will be more than a comprehensive tool to SEO your vBulletins, so don't worry :) This threads isn't to promote my paid script so I will not mention the features or anything else yet. It is to discuss the lite version.

To all those who are waiting for the release, I am ready to release a beta to all those who have applied to, but circumstances have arose and my PC is slowly dying, so I need to rebuild it sometime over the next week and until then I will have no internet access :) Thanks for your patience.

yes, our rules do SPECIFICALLY say no prices. Not in the hack, not in the forums.

Dean C

Where does it say that Amy? It's not specifically mentioned in the rules. I also think it's a bit rude of you to ask me not to mention the price after I was asked it by a participant of this thread and I've already made clear this thread is for discussing the release of the free version of this modification. And you wonder why authors don't want to release good quality modifciations here...

In the section discussing paid mods, it says no price. Given your very vocal opinion over the years about paid mods, I'm surprised to be having this discussion with you.

3) Beta or Lite versions of commercial hacks/scripts may be released here as long as:
a) The beta or lite version is fully functional
b) The beta or lite version is not time limited in any way
c) The beta or lite version is completely free
d) The beta or lite version is stand-alone and completely separate to the full version
e) A link back to the full version is allowed, as long as no price or promotional language is embedded into the beta or lite version.

Yep... it does say so.

I guess it is up to a mod to remove it then..... Are you a mod Amy? If so I guess your the enforcer... If not then that is something else entirely.....

It is too bad if the rules are so strict that a man cannot answer a simple question......

He can respond to his potential customers via pm or email. It generally is not a good thing for us when people are allowed to conduct sales discussions here because when something goes amiss and people come here to gripe, people get confused and think it's vb.org that is having issues. Dean himself has been vehemenantly opposed to coders selling code here since I met him. So, I am hoping he will conduct his own sales through other channels until we have a paid mods directory of some sort in place.

Now, I believed the purpoted topic of this thread is the features for the lite version - not the commercial version. Thank you for your understanding.

e) A link back to the full version is allowed, as long as no price or promotional language is embedded into the beta or lite version.

Where am I linking to the full version here? Where have I embedded a price into my beta or lite version that isn't even released here yet? This is utter nonsense and you know it. Let me answer my question and get on with the purpose of this thread.

Dean, if you don't like my interpretation of the rule, feel free to take it up with an admin. Otherwise, conduct the business regarding your commercial mod on your own site or via private communications.

From reading the rules, I can only find out the rules would be violated if he was discussing a price for a beta or lite version. Specifically, the rules state that the price should not be mentioned with the beta or lite version. Dean is only selling the full version, and the lite version is for everyone.

e) A link back to the full version is allowed, as long as no price or promotional language is embedded into the beta or lite version.

Price or no price. The matter is off topic and is hijacking the thread. I'd be most interested in learning more on what this hack does. Depending on the functionality of the hack, I may be interested in beta testing it. My site is big enough.

Dean:

I have a site that has over 120k posts. I am interested in beta testing what you have. You can email me to let me know when you have something ready to go.

"This week" is over. Something new?

Dean C

In the last week I've moved house and had my PC crumble into a useless piece of junk. So bare with me while I back up all my data and do a reinstall please ;) And to those who have PMd me, I will get back to you (if you were the first two who met my requirements), as soon as my PC is back up and ready to develop on :) Sorry for the delay.

I guess a mod/admin can close this topic and its finally "ad acta"

Sad to see that there never was and still IS no competition to vBSEO
(which is indeed fine, only unfortunately obfuscated/encoded).
However, competition never harms, therefore there goes another hope
for more competition down the toilet.
