What about a page where we can see the top nominated mods? Before we were pretty much able to go by installs and date. However, now that it's even more exciting, we should be able to go by something. So why not a page like this?

That defeats the object of user's being able to independently nominate mods they feel themselves deserve to be nominated ;)
The top nominated mods will be in the Modification of the Month poll :)

Chris, i'm talking about a page that just keeps us updated with what has been getting nominated most and such. How will that defeat anything? It will just keep us aware and perhaps more competitive.

The idea of independant nomination is so that if you feel a hack is deserving, you make your decision based on your own beliefs, not just because several hacks are winning nomination wise, you feel that "oh well I may as well join the masses" or "oh well my vote wont mean anything why bother"...

I see. So you think this will put those who want to vote for less nominated hacks down?

It potentially can do yes - If people are left to make up their own minds, not go with the flow, I think we will get more interesting results ;)

I agree with Chris thar, but I think it would be somewhat cool to see how many nominations your own hack got. And to prevent the above from becoming an issue again, only the author could see the nomination counts of only his own mods.

I think after the Modification of the Month poll has been created, yes, I can see no harm in allowing authors to see their own nomination counts :)

That's what i originally wanted. However, i just didn't want to be selfish hehe. Can we get that?

I predict less than a day after you allow authors to see their count one of them will link it somehow in there hack.

Which is why if it were to be implemented, it should be viewable after the poll has been created :)

On the other hand - if there is nothing visible to look at and keep interest over the month(s) then I can see nominations dying off very quickly. :)

I'm sure we can have some statistics, like "most nominated author" or such :)

Thats pretty much the same as putting most nominated modification because the mod by the author with the most install clicks is the one that author got the most nominations for.

Potentially yes, but that is not always the case :)

I still vote for my idea, evne though Hambil made a very valid point. But I believe just as people don't pay notice to the "Please vote for me in HOTM" links, they won't pay any notice to a nominee count link.

hmm, bring in some statistics could be a nice idea for the future
we may keep it in mind.
I see valid points for both sides here, not sure yet, what would be best, so keep up the discussion

Guess I should say thanks for the support, if knowing that its putting people off voting if they get those messages carefully tucked in the thread, maybe they will stop doing it as counter productive :p
