How can I disable all of vB's own "formatting" (CSS)?

I want to do my own formatting and make sure vB does *not* use all of the color and pixel values specified in the admincp.

I just want to add my header/footer with my own stuff and not worry about all the background .gif vB sets, formatting, etc.
