View Full Version : okay, explain what it means to me when a hack thread shows 'updated' in green

in my user cp, it has a list of the hacks I've installed. It either says "Installed" by the hack, or the word "Updated" in green. I was thinking when it said 'Updated", that means that the hack itself has been updated - yet when I go and look at the hack, the date in the first post that shows the last time the hack was updated, called "Last Update" has not changed. So what does that green updated mean? And is there any way to know if the hack has been updated with a new version, other than going into the hack itself, and looking at the 'last updated' date?

AFAIK, it means one of the files has been updated (uploaded) since you last downloaded the hack.
(btw, not everyone sees it in green ;))

so why doesnt the 'last updated' date get changed in the hack description? is this something the hack author has to change manually, and forgets about?

Do you mean the "Last Update:" date ? - that changes when a new file is uploaded by the author.

See, it's not changing for me - for example the honorable member hack shows it was 'updated' today - yet when i look at the hack itself, it says the last update was january - and there are no notes in the main post from the author indicating anything was updated or changed in the hack..
am I not looking in the right place?

First one shows in my usercp how it appears as 'updated' - second one shows when i go to look at the hack thread, updated says Jan. 25, 2006

That's correct - you seem to be (incorrectly) assuming that 'updated' in the list means today - it doesn't, it just means it's been updated since you last downloaded it - in this case the update was in January. It will continue to say updated until you download it again.

THANK YOU PAUL! I thought I was losing my marbles there for a while :)
