Does anyone have a guide on how to create a template from beginning to end? I'm talking full graphic surrounded templates, not simple border color changes.
I'm looking into making some but I need to know what templates or classes to create and what postbits are for what. I'm clueless to all of this.

Me too! Can someone just make a basic style that skins over the entire forum areas with little plain images???? I could edit, replace and add to that sucker quite nicely with the little bit I DO know about the coding stuff. Others could too I bet!

The official GIMP Tutorial Wiki:

There's also misc tutorials (custom brushes, scan lines, lighting, etc) created by some of the members on my site which can be found here:

Always a tutorial, a site, or some other useless resource that ends up leading to nothing.(That first link don't intially work either by the way.) Blah. I am about ready to give up on getting what I need with these things.

Can one of you coderguys please just honor the request and make up a basic style template we can all use to skin the forums however we want? PLEASE! I'd rather be designing buttons or something in CS than trying to figure out how someone has managed to put gif borders on their skin's categories!

While it might be a good resource to have a style that walks you through it, I highly suggest creating a new style, and just start putzing around. By changing different things, you can see how the templates interact with the script, and get a better idea of how to do the custom changes you're looking for. A basic template tutorial might not work exactly for what you're doing.

It really isn't as crazy as you think :) Just start changing little things here and there to see what stuff is where.

Photoshop wasn't even designed for the web...lol. :shakes head:

Another free paint but good program that is easy to use (that was suppose to be the replacement of the paint program in Vista)....Paint.NET.

http://www.getpaint.net/

I use PaintShopPro and ImageStyler (best thing I found for easy layouts, and it's ImageReady's granddaddy). ImageStyler makes vector shapes on the fly, easier than any other program that I know, and can move them around and arrange them with ease. 10x easier than cranking out a vector program with all those NURBs and crap.

Styles & Templates (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/styles_and_templates)

thanx, i try to change text color and get a error like this>>
Required variables have gone missing and execution can not continue. Please try again.

This error can sometimes occur as a result of Suhosin / Hardened PHP being installed on your server. If you know that you have Suhosin running and you have access to the PHP configuration, try increasing the value of the following variables:
php_value suhosin.post.max_vars
php_value suhosin.request.max_vars

where can i find these >>php_value suhosin.post.max_vars
php_value suhosin.request.max_vars so i can change and what increase should i make? thanx, should i start another thread on this sorry do not want to hijack, just learn :)

Hello,

I got this error from a "flakey" network connection and NOT because my site was running Suhosin. So, save yourself some aggravation and ask your host if they are in fact running suhosin. If they are, they can suggest better what you need to do to fix the access problem.

BTW, my problem went away when I reset my internet connection.

HTH, mikesz

Well I don't know if this will work for you but what I'm doing is view the entire forum in a browser, then I view the html source copy paste it in dreamweaver and on the designer window on DW I locate what part I like to customize. I then copy that part of the html code from the code window and search for it in the "search in templates" in the admincp of VB.

Well naturally you'll have to b e very careful not to change any php strings in the templates.

You mean the Toolbox explained (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=1678534#post1678534) thread. Bare in mind that the guide is not uptodate with the current revisions of photoshop.
