exactly what i need, thank you very much!!!
maybe it will ;)
I'll rephrase:
Why use this hack when vBulletin has the function built-in?
It's called Usergroup Manager.
The only reason I could think of is that you can't wait for the scheduled task to run.

Some people may just prefer a quick an easy route - usergroups involve keeping an eye on permissions too... for people with already a large amount of usergroups for varying purposes, one less makes quite a difference :)

Maybe because some of us have a lot of usergroups and when people reg. they are derived to certain groups? ;)

Any reason why my product manager says version 1.8? Is there another hack around for this?

I'm confused by the wording in the admin panel.
It says....
Enable/disable the hack
yes no
Well, what does yes do and what does no do? You've got both enable and disable listed there.
It should be something like...
Enable the hack
yes no
OR
Disable the hack
yes no
That aside, can someone just tell me whether I need yes or no to have this hack turned ON. Thanks.

One more question....
Is there any way to modify this hack a little so people cannot RECEIVE pm's if they have less than X posts? I think there may be some problems if people are getting pm's but can't reply to them.

Ditto that, when you already have many usergroups setup, why would you want to go back and go thru all of that? Makes me shudder to think about it, and I just added a new usergroup about a week ago, and Im still tweaking some of those settings.

Yes, the language is not good on that. The answer is, set it to "Yes" to enable it.
Great hack though - thank you and INSTALLED :D

If you take some time to plan your usergroups its not a hard function at all.

Is there any way to make it possible for them to respond to private messages (or send private messages) only to admins / super mods / moderators? In other words, they can send/reply to pm's received from these 3 groups.

Ditto! I DO like this hack but that upgrade would help a lot.
Also anything happening re vB 3.6? Is this compatible or not? Do we need an upgrade or can we just install vB3.6 without any problems with this hack?

I looked in the user group I can't even find where it says cannot send PM's unless you have X amount of post.
