Very nice work, I haven't installed this on my site as I'm using vb3.5 but if I did would it work and would I still be able to use my current banner image without ruining the style ?

I'd also need extra buttons, would this be possible ?

Thank you fo your post and glad that you like it. Do you want these extra buttons like the ones i made for Rickie3?
As for the skin workin on vb 3.5 , I didn't test that, it's has only been tested on 3.5.4 but you can add it as an extra skin on your board and see how it looks.
BTW nice site ;)

The buttons would need to be the rectangular navigation type shown across the top of the forum, but to be fair to you I don't want to put you out as I may not get the style to look right with my banner. :confused:

Andy, as for the navbar buttons, no need to create them, just open the navbar template and add the desired button with the link and the text will be automatically placed on a button and the button will then appear in your navbar ;)

excellent i installed this its a nice one...Any chance of a forum button and portal button? to match these.
Many thanks Merlin for your post. As for the buttons, these buttons are created automatically so no need to create new ones. All you have to do is:
1- Go to your admincp
2- From the left bar choose "Styles & Templates" and expand it.
3- Then choose "Style Manager"
4- Then from the drop down menu on the right of Abeer Style, choose "Edit Templates"
5- In the "Edit Templates"screen you will find a lot of templates, search down till you reach "Navigation / Breadcrumb Templates"and expand it.
6- Choose "navbar" and double click it.
7- In the "navbar" template find the following line:
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="memberlist.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[members_list]</a></td>

8- That's the line responsible for creating the "member list" button,copy it in a text file and then in the "memberlist.php$session[sessionurl_q]" replace this with the link you want for the new button, and replace $vbphrase[member_list] with the text that will be written on the button.
9- Copy your new button coding and place it over or under the member list line and save the template and you are done.

You can do this process as much as you want but take care not to erase any of the lines in the template.

The thing is that your domain name doesn't resolve! I did ping the domain and it's status shows as offline And this has no relation with the skin, it's about your server, so contact your server support and Make sure that your domain name is working and then if you want to use it, install it on vb 3.5.4 and please don't hesitate to let me know if you face any problems.
Thank you

Nice and clean with good grafix.
Forumhome needs a bit of work to fix bad nesting from conditionals. Cant see much else wrong with it tho. Nice job. :)

Perhaps it would be better to throw the welcome guest stuff over to where the rest of that area of forumhome code went. Seems to validate 100% as member and only kicks out an empty set of div tags as a guest, which isnt unusuall or bad. If you find its not standing out enough change the font for the guest message.

Another nice style ! But the the psd folder isnt in the download ?

egtrix
05-02-2006, 07:40 AM
HaYLaZ, many thanks and I really appreciate your words especially that you are a master designer ;)

Nitro, yes that's a good suggestion, I will probably take that in mind when I release the next version for this skin. Many thanks for the tips ;)

DomP, many thanks and glad that you like it :) , the thing that I didn't add a PSD file was because I did this skin when I was out of city and only had a dial-up connection by that time, so I tried to make the uploaded file as small as possible. But I will release the PSD file with the next version of the skin ;)

Or you should be able to tuck the closing if above the closing table tag. Its a preference thing there I think really, depends on how you want the guest message box to appear. The full way makes it less obtrusive but thats not what is allways wanted with please register message.

egtrix
05-02-2006, 11:01 AM
yes nitro, nice idea. I've been even thinking of moving the please register message above the header for non registered users and then it will be invisible for registered users.. a crazy idea, i know.. but it will take away the register message from the body of the design :)

Sorry I was bit slow to click the install, wasn't sure if this skin would be too light. Now that I've installed and modified it a little, it looks so good I've made it the current default theme.

This one kind of "grows" on you I think. It's a long way from some of the darker themes I've used before, but it's easy to read, easy to work with . . and most important, my members like it a lot!

A big (but slightly belated) Thank You for this one. Excellent skin :up: . . . clicks *Installed*

Belder really glad that you like this skin especially it's the most one I like out of all of my designs :)

Pete C
07-07-2006, 02:19 PM
It is a really nice skin, but I've run into the alignment problem and it seems (from reading what I can find here) the way to fix it may be different from theme to theme. If you have time to take a look at my site, you'll see what I mean by alignment - the Last Post section extends to different sizes.

I have the same problem on another theme that was created by Forum-Lance and the Forumhome template is coded similarly to yours.

I've tried everything I know, and a few things I don't . . . I changed the code to this:
<!-- main -->
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<thead>

<tr align="center">
<td class="thead">&nbsp;</td>
<td class="thead" width="100%" align="$stylevar[left]">$vbphrase[forum]</td>
<td class="thead" width="175">$vbphrase[last_post]</td>
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[threads]</td>
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[posts]</td>
<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[moderator]</td>
</if>
</tr>
</thead>
$forumbits I even tried adding width=#% to the td class lines (# being the precentage of the total width for each section, and made so all sections together =100%. I got absolutely nowhere lol!

I copied the original template before I started, so nothing lost. I just cannot figure how to get the Last Post section to line up! Any help, suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.

egtrix

Hey Belder, thanks for your post and sorry for the delay in posting but it took me a while to work on this issue and finally found a solution for it, here is the right code :)
<td class="thead">&nbsp;</td>
<td class="thead" width="75%" align="$stylevar[left]">$vbphrase[forum]</td>
<td width="25%" class="thead">$vbphrase[last_post]</td>
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[threads]</td>
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[posts]</td>
<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[moderator]</td>
As you can see that the problem was that $vbphrase[forum] was set to 100% which was wrong, so I set it to 75% instead and then set the $vbphrase[last_post] to 25% , ofcourse you can change these variables according to your needs.

So the total code of the forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost will be:
<table style="border-collapse: collapse">
<tr>
<td align="left" style="padding: 0"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/cat_top_l.gif" border="0" alt="" /></td>
<td class="cat-top"><a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="#top" onClick="return toggle_collapse('forumbit_$forumid')"><img id="collapseimg_forumbit_$forumid" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_tcat{$collapseimg_forumid}.gif" alt="" border="0" /></a>
<a href="forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]f=$forum[forumid]">$forum[title]</a>
<if condition="$show['forumdescription']"> - $forum[description]</if>
<if condition="$show['subforums']"><div class="smallfont"><strong>$vbphrase[subforums]</strong>: $forum[subforums]</div></if>
</td>
<td align="right" style="padding: 0"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/cat_top_r.gif" alt="" /></td>
</tr>
</table>
<if condition="$childforumbits">
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tbody id="collapseobj_forumbit_$forumid" style="{$collapseobj_forumid}">
<tr align="center">
<td class="thead">&nbsp;</td>
<td class="thead" width="75%" align="$stylevar[left]">$vbphrase[forum]</td>
<td width="25%" class="thead">$vbphrase[last_post]</td>
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[threads]</td>
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[posts]</td>
<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[moderator]</td>
</if>
</tr>
$childforumbits
</tbody>
</table>
</if>
<table style="border-collapse: collapse">
<tr>
<td align="left" style="padding: 0"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/cat_bottom_l.gif" alt="" /></td>
<td style="background-image: url($stylevar[imgdir_misc]/cat_bottom_bg.gif);width: 100%"></td>
<td align="right" style="padding: 0"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/cat_bottom_r.gif" alt="" /></td>
</tr>
</table>
<br />

Thanks again for reporting that bug :)

egtrix
07-07-2006, 11:13 PM
wait Belder, still this is not resolving the problem, sorry I will need some extra time

egtrix
07-07-2006, 11:28 PM
ok finally here is the solution :)

it should be:
<td class="thead" width="5%">&nbsp;</td>
<td class="thead" width="50%" align="$stylevar[left]">$vbphrase[forum]</td>
<td class="thead" with="50%">$vbphrase[last_post]</td>
<td class="thead" width="5%">$vbphrase[threads]</td>
<td class="thead" width="5%">$vbphrase[posts]</td>
<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[moderator]</td>
This will form cell's width in a right way, so the total code will be:
<table style="border-collapse: collapse">
<tr>
<td align="left" style="padding: 0"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/cat_top_l.gif" border="0" alt="" /></td>
<td class="cat-top"><a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="#top" onClick="return toggle_collapse('forumbit_$forumid')"><img id="collapseimg_forumbit_$forumid" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_tcat{$collapseimg_forumid}.gif" alt="" border="0" /></a>
<a href="forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]f=$forum[forumid]">$forum[title]</a>
<if condition="$show['forumdescription']"> - $forum[description]</if>
<if condition="$show['subforums']"><div class="smallfont"><strong>$vbphrase[subforums]</strong>: $forum[subforums]</div></if>
</td>
<td align="right" style="padding: 0"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/cat_top_r.gif" alt="" /></td>
</tr>
</table>
<if condition="$childforumbits">
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tbody id="collapseobj_forumbit_$forumid" style="{$collapseobj_forumid}">
<tr align="center">
<td class="thead" width="5%">&nbsp;</td>
<td class="thead" width="50%" align="$stylevar[left]">$vbphrase[forum]</td>
<td class="thead" with="50%">$vbphrase[last_post]</td>
<td class="thead" width="5%">$vbphrase[threads]</td>
<td class="thead" width="5%">$vbphrase[posts]</td>
<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[moderator]</td>
</if>
</tr>
$childforumbits
</tbody>
</table>
</if>
<table style="border-collapse: collapse">
<tr>
<td align="left" style="padding: 0"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/cat_bottom_l.gif" alt="" /></td>
<td style="background-image: url($stylevar[imgdir_misc]/cat_bottom_bg.gif);width: 100%"></td>
<td align="right" style="padding: 0"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/cat_bottom_r.gif" alt="" /></td>
</tr>
</table>

Wow - thank you egtrix, that's a lot more help than I'd hoped for. I applied your updated code and everything is lining up perfectly.

Considering how good the skin is, I guess it was a minor bug . . but fixing it has turned a good theme into something very special.

Thanks for your time and effort, and for putting out work of this quality for free. It's very much appreciated.
