First off, thanks for this forum! My site is only about a week or two old, and already this has been a huge help... not to mention the great hacks.

I like how your layout matches your main site but you need to change the color of the buttons.

You have too many forums. I suggest making a forum "Activities" and in the description list what they can talk about.
ex. "Discuss hiking, camping, cycling, ..."

Apply that to the other forums. When your site gets more active you can bring back those forums.

Having your adsense at the bottom is useless. I'd suggest putting within the forum listings. Browse through the list of my forums (http://xenweb.net/forums/) and you'll notice "Sponsors" somewhere in that list.
Or put the adsense above the "What's Going On" table.

Agreed, but I'm not sure the best way to do it. I'm trying hard to keep the focus away from hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activites like that. But I do agree that there are too many forums. I eliminated two so far. I'll keep working on that.

I changed it to be after the last post in a thread instead. I'll still play around with that too. The reason I didn't only leave it at the top is that often people find a post in a board from a search engine that takes them right to the last post in a thread. Often they never see the top of the board.
