View Full Version : Hack for top users--voted by members?

Rating members by number of posts doesn't really tell you much beyond how active they are and how long they've been on the forum.

In thinking about this, what I would like is the ability for the members to nominate other members as the "most valuable resource" so to speak.

For example, there could be the top ten members--or gurus--the next 50, then maybe everybody else. It would be cool if the members could vote on their top x people (3-10). The rating would be looking at the cumulative votes of the members. The votes would need to be stored with the user profile so that they could change it as they see fit.

Having the members vote would have much more meaning than a moderator or administrator making that decision.

Does this sound too weird, and how hard would it be?

Thanks,

Since I didn't start with UBB, I've no idea about that. Does that mean that UBB had that capability/feature? Does that mean that it's possible to put it in vB?

I was talking about htis hak before when UBB 6 came out. most ppl said it's a bad idea because lots of ppl on the board want to just give 1 to everyone just for fun to screw them up.
