I've held off this post for a while and hoped that someone would have mentioned this (although I am surprised it hasn't been mentioned or suggested before). I think some guidelines would be beneficial in the "Graphic Requests Area" as there are a lot of request threads lacking information about the graphic they want making it difficult for the designer to fill a request. I know I've bumped into a couple of requests that sounded appealing but held off filling them because of the lack of information provided by the requester, I'm guessing many designers have held off also.

I don't know whether you have a pre-made graphic requests guideline form at hand but I have one (which could be modified to suit your needs) and can be edited accordingly (pixel template also provided). Anyway, whether you use it or not is entirely up to you but I personally think some graphic requests guidelines wouldn't hurt.

I've quoted the guidelines (if you choose to use it) and you can edit it as you see fit.

When requesting an image, please indicate whether it's a Signature, Avatar, board logo etc. Please use the following guidelines to make it easier for the graphic designer. Following the guidelines set forth ensures that your request is filled quickly and saving the staff from locking/deleting topics which don't conform to the rules. We ask that you also refrain yourself from creating any threads requesting any graphics from the Graphic Database.

NOTE!! Your first post in this section should contain the Request Guidelines (shown below)

* Type of Image: (Logo, Avatar, Banner)
* Text on image:
* Specific Images: (links must be supplied !)
* Colour Scheme:
* Size (in pixels):
* Animations:
* Things to avoid: (what you don't want in your image)

Pixel Size Template

We are aware that not everbody knows what pixels are, or what size they actually want. We have provided a Pixel Size Template (shown Below) which will help you in deciding what size you would like that Image to be.

NOTE!! Because the graphic request area is not officially a YOURDOMAIN.com service, staff are not obligated to fill or take on requests. The graphic request is community driven, which means members helping members. However, this doesn't mean a staff member won't help from time to time, it all depends whether they have higher priorities and/or other obligations.

On a final note, We ask that you conform to the guidelines set forth. Complying with the rules will give your request a higher chance of being filled by the designer. However, ignoring the guidelines will result in your post being locked and/or deleted.

Personally, I think it's a shame for someone to be a forum admin and have no clue what pixels are (or even basic html) but I suppose that's just me :tired: :rolleyes:

We've placed this as a sticky in the request forum. :)

If you think anything else is needed please let us know.

That would possibly work on the perfect forum were people knew everything they needed to know but of course, no forum is like this. if so, I haven't came across a forum were visitors posted with the full information needed for the (designer in this case) to fill a graphic request. Many sites and large forums have taken these guidelines and implemented it because it works and it works well.

I wasn't fussed whether the guidelines were used or not. I felt that it was needed here because of the lack of information that was submitted by people requesting graphics. We can't expect everybody to know everything otherwise were is the fun in learning? And if someone is making a graphic request chances are they don't know anything in the graphic area. It will do more good than harm.

We've placed this as a sticky in the request forum.

If you think anything else is needed please let us know.

Subheading on the graphic request area could do with being renamed. The current title doesn't make sense. Maybe it's me.

We're open for suggestions - this is the only one that's been made.

We're open for suggestions - this is the only one that's been made.

I did make a suggestion about the sub heading in the Graphics Request Area. It just doesn't make sense and for a modifications/graphics forum the sub title should be clearer. I'm sure it won't be difficult to come up with something a little more appropriate.

Onto another note. The whole graphics area seems to have been somewhat neglected and boring. Not very inviting? not enough to get a consitent active rate of posting going. Maybe put some sticky topics to tutorial sites, graphic software etc.

Anyway, I've wrote up a list that (as stated before) is used by a lot of forums both large and small of some tutorial sites for many graphic software. It can be edited, modified or more software added to your liking. I was thinking this shhould be added in the graphic discussion area.

Found a Tutorial site that you would like to share and would be beneficial to other members? Thats great, Post the link here and I (Staff Member) will add it to the list. Before you submit a site, Make sure the site hasn't been submitted to the list. Once we have added your site, Your reply will then be deleted to keep this thread manageable and tidy.

Found a broken link in the list? Feel free to PM me, and quote the Graphic Program and the Number. The link will then either be fixed, or removed from the list.

NOTE!! This thread is for submitting tutorial Links and not for general chat.
