What about in a scenario where all people, regardless of registration, are allowed to enter threads and posts: In that situation, can you still limit the thread rating to the person who posts or the admin?

if you mean that display threads is allowed to all (registered & un-registered users) I ask you a question: what is the permisions for un-registered/un-logged in users ?

they can rate threads? they can post threads? they can post replies? also Is there any custom forum permisions? or access masks you made on your forums?

will you be upgrading this so that more than one usergroup can be added in the option "Usergroup IDs That can rate other's Threads ?

We want both our admins and moderators to be able to rate the threads.

Why would you want to allow anyone to be able to rate your own thread? Wouldn't it be better to only allow those who post in a thread to rate it and not those who don't post? And not the thread starter, either. ;)

If the question is directed at me, it's a monthly contest that we do on our forum, to encourage quality threads.

It was not directed at anyone in particular, just an observation. ;)

I would think only allowing those that post in a thread would have more of a right to vote on that thread than someone who really doesn't care about the thread enough to partake in it. And anyone rating their own thread is too biased to be allowed to vote. There's no objectivity in doing that. There can't be. ;)

And anyone rating their own thread is too biased to be allowed to vote. There's no objectivity in doing that. There can't be. ;) I agree with this point. I've had several complaints about threadstarters who vote themselves 5 stars everytime they start a thread. I've now added a text message under the Vote Now button - "Rating your own thread or article is not allowed." I can't find a setting to prevent threadstarters from voting their own thread. Is there a hack for this somewhere? I've searched, but have been unable to find anything.

Update: I've found the hack I was looking for here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=634668#post634668). It may be possible to make it conditional on usergroup too with some extra coding.

I used the usergroups and have limited thread rating to admins and mods.
No you can't limit them individually, neither can I remove the ratings already in place without going into the database. UGH
