It just makes the font for the topic names go red if the topics locked
VaaKo
04-18-2006, 09:42 PM
it wouldve been better if it takes the topic unclickable as well!

Thank you ZIKI-SET
Great idea!
Install
Would be a nice idea if you could make them bold when there are new
posts in them? like the default ones :)

I have a lot of locked threads with information in them &
if members could not click them I would be stuck lol:p

what might be good is to make the table row of the locked topic a other colour so it stands out more.

is it possible to make sticky threads red?

Now that sounds like a great idea
Sure it is possible.I make it later on.Wait :p
EDIT: I meant the sticky thread idea
Now that sounds like a great idea
I don't get it.Can you explain it?

Hi,
Meaning the cell color of the threads when they are locked :)
I have added a screenshot so you know what I mean:cool: What do you think?
It stands out really well too

Won't that clash with the inline moderation colouring ?
I really don't know but I don't think it will
EDIT: Yeah it will.

I dont know cos Im not a coder :(
Or even have a little color changer so it goes with any template
But really this would be a different hack anyway cos this one is great just as it is :)
cause when you tick the thread it also changes the color so it will get dizzy
ZombieAndy
04-19-2006, 07:00 PM
im about 99% sure this could be done with a template edit

changing a thread title to red when its locked?... yeah
thats all this does isnt it?

A product is in my opinion better than a template edit. Boardupdate... ;)
Just wanted to say.It is more comfortable

You will think that until you run out of resources. If something can be done with a template edit it will take up far less resources than a product. Just depends on how much overhead you can afford.

Nice work.
Thank you!
I'm glad you like it.Looks like this is my most successfull hack

you don't need a plugin for this one either. A template mod will do.

04-20-2006, 03:19 PM
possible to make it light gray? I mean if you use this with your red sticky topic script it will confused users... it would be better to have sticky topics in red and the closed one in light gray :) what do you think about this idea?
I think I change sticky to green :)
@amy
I like plugins better and also they count towards coder titles :p
amykhar
04-21-2006, 12:38 PM
Yeah, Ziki, we figured you were trying to inflate your title. And hell, if people are dumb enough to install the stuff, more power to ya.
Maybe I didn't get it right but you mean I submit crappy hacks?

And hell, if people are dumb enough to install the stuff, more power to ya.I've installed some of your hacks, Amykhar.
I've also installed the one pertinent to this thread.
Maybe some of us vBulletin license owners are just grateful, as I am, that you people devote time and energy to these modifications.
And for some of us, that it be a template mod, file edit or plugin simply won't matter.
Nothing dumb about me.
Just gratitude that others with more coding skill than I ever will have are sharing their ideas.

I didn't use the word crappy. I was commenting on your using the more resource intensive plugins instead of a template mod because you want to inflate your coder title.
they count towards coder titles
But still I think plugins are better than template mods.I personaly HATE template editting.

If you are going to release this as a "product", at least put all of the mods into one package and create an admincp option to change the color.
You shouldn't release 4 different versions of a "product" just to support a different color code. As Amy said, this should be a template mod if you aren't going to go the distance.

To make it somewhat worthwhile being a plugin, I suggest that you may want to try adding an option to the Admin CP whereby a color can be defined for what admins want closed threads on their board to appear in. It makes sense to me rather than having 4 different versions just to have different colors..
Yes it uses more resources, but as long as you don't go crazy with the amount of plugins you have installed, it's relatively minimal.
---EDIT---
Well I'll be.. I got beaten to it! :o

cuz they inflate your title :p
No cause they are faster than a template edit and much easier to install :D
But also because of that :)
ZombieAndy
04-22-2006, 07:27 PM
they also use up more resources and slow down your board. :p
That is not my problem :)

Nice.
Maybe you should mention the alternative as an option in the hack listing. People should at least know that this is not the optimal way to do this.

Let's just get a little perspective here - the amount of "resouces" that this will use is too small to be measured and for that matter, a template edit also uses "resources" as it has to be compiled, fetched, etc. At the end of the day, this is easier for some people, and no one forces you to use it.
Atleast someone is on my side :)

I agree 110% ;)
You know this is wierd. All starting coders start like this. Why didn't you do this, why that etc.
Everyone is complaining.
But about senior coders when they release a plugin that can be made with a template edit they don't say anything just that it is great etc.
Not fair

I wouldn't worry about it. Some people just like to complain  They think that by bringing you down a notch that it somehow raises them up a notch, but we all know it doesn't work that way ;) Life is too short, so don't let them get to you or bring you down. Thanks for your contribution to vB. Looking forward to seeing your next one :bunny:
:) are we going to get a product insted of plugins..
including sticky thread's color?
its a nice idea..liked it really
surely we will install it...
Dude I already made a hack like that :p
A suggestion: Use valid XHTML in your plugins. <font> tags are deprecated. :)
Many people like to have a valid site.
lol it's normal.<font> tags are invalid?
That's correct, otherwise..why would I say that your code is not valid? :)
I don't get why they are invalid :S
Kirk Y
07-31-2006, 07:49 AM
It's more that they're just old -- outdated, not necessarily invalid. Why drive in a Model-T when you could drive a Shelby GT Mustang?
Cause it is my decission :p
The whole reasoning behind making code valid is to ensure inter-operability between browsers.
It also shows you care enough about your end-users' experience to make the effort to provide *correct and valid* code.
Ok so what other tags should I use then
