I had about 2 hours to spare before moving onto another project, so a new style release is among us :).

The TropicalIsland style was created from a style originally to be sold, though the client dropped out at the last minute. I've since updated it to comply with vBulletin 3.5.4 and re-worked the navigation bar and the category display.

No live demo, though a screenshot is provided below.

Available in Fixed & Fluid.

Looks very nice, probably it would look a tiny bit better if you merged the cell before the category title and the cell the cat title is in; also removes the white line.
But that's just a minor idea, very nice layout, thanks so much for sharing.

Download the newer ZIP file that the original post has been updated with. I've dropped the date to another line to prevent the overlapping :).

If you've already made quite a few modifications to your install, then simply replace your forumhome_lastpostby template with the following:

<div style="width: 200px;" align="$stylevar[left]">
<div style="clear:both">
<a href="showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]goto=newpost&amp;t=$lastpostinfo[lastthreadid]" title="<phrase 1="$lastpostinfo[lastthread]">$vbphrase[go_first_unread_in_thread_x]</phrase>"><strong>$lastpostinfo[trimthread]</strong></a>
</div>
<div style="float: left;">
<phrase 1="member.php?$session[sessionurl]find=lastposter&amp;f=$lastpostinfo[forumid]" 2="$lastpostinfo[lastposter]">$vbphrase[by_x]</phrase>
<div style="float: right;">
<a href="showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]goto=lastpost&amp;t=$lastpostinfo[lastthreadid]"><img class="inlineimg" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/lastpost.gif" alt="$vbphrase[go_to_last_post]" border="0" /></a>&nbsp;$lastpostinfo[lastpostdate] <if condition="!$show['detailedtime']"><span class="time">$lastpostinfo[lastposttime]</span></if>
</div>
</div>
</div>

Thanks, appreciate the comment :). While the styles we release freely are not overly graphical, we do try to bring something fresh and new to the table that almost anyone could use for their community.

We've got more ideas, we're just not sure if they will be commerical or free-release. It depends on the support from the current and next few releases as to what the next different line will hold :).

the most important thing to me about skins are the clean look and the simplicity of it. Your skins are just what I am looking for, I'm pretty sure if you guys start selling paid skins you will have some buyers. ;)

At the moment, we're trying to keep them as 'clean' as possible, however we're trying to find someone to aid with logo development since that's not my specific area of design :).

Given that, we hope to be releasing a few more free and possibly a few, more modified paid styles.

Dumb newb question here, but...how do I install this (or any other style, for that matter).

Folder that come with the styles aren't matching up to those on my vB installation.

Is there a walkthrough or how-to around here somewhere?

I really dig on this style, BTW. Nice work.

Just as a note, the styles we release all make use of a seperate folder, not the images folder :). So when you upload the images, they need to be uploaded the your /styles folder (you'll need to create this, it is not a standard with vBulletin).

The /styles folder also needs to be in the forum root, so if your forum is in /forum, it should be /forum/styles/. If your forum resides in your website root, then /styles.

As for the additional menu, you can simply copy the current from the header and place it where you'd like :).

Part of my problem is that there was no 'styles' folder to begin with.

I can't get the style to work, whether I put the tropical folder under a created 'styles' folder, in the images folder, or in the main directory.

I'm stumped.

I prefer to seperate the styles out so as not to combine them with the original images folder. Seperating them to their own folder makes it easier to organize, especially when you are dealing and working on 30-50 styles :).

Great mod. Thank you :)

I'm a newbie. Clear instructions anywhere on installing this please - where each file goes? Have uploaded the XML and the images to the folder /styles, so what do I do next please?

Spent half an hour looking for guidance anywhere on the site to no avail.

simple upload the xml file, and right click images ( that are not working )

it will tell you the location its trying to get the picture, and simply upload the files to there! :)

or look in style settings/options ( where you edit the colours etc )

I am using your skin and I think that it looks fantastic!

However I have encountered 1 bug which kills the DHTML drop downs from working.

check out this forum post : http://www.surfxtc.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=12&page=2

look at the lower right in Internet Explorer web browser - script error. This error only happens when foums go over 1 page..

What can be done to fix this?

I can also be reached at: surfsitefl@yahoo.com

THX!!!
