help please! - problem with upgrade

I just upgraded my board to 3.5.1 and now when I try to post any message I get the following error. It seems that typed characters are being interpreted as images for some reason. Can anyone help please?

You have included 20 images in your message. You are limited to using 10 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the vB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.

Have you reverted the templates or adjusted them according to the change logs at vb.com?

yes I have reverted them.
The number of 'images' listed = the number of text characters I type in a message if thats any kind of clue to the problem.

I'd be tempted to contact support and see if they can look at it for you, especially as I haven't heard about this problem before.

unfortunately my support has expired and the people who pay the bills don't want to renew.
