installing a second vbulletin (same server) to share user tables

Im interested in installing a second vbulletin on the same server in the home directory outside my /forum directory to modify for content management. I wish for the two installs to share the same user tables and generally link up together for my members but keep a separate database for everything else.

I have hunted around vb.com and vb.org however I cannot find anything specific on this. Perhaps some helpful links or tips into doing this would be greatly appreciated.
