It shows in the postbit whether or not a users who's posted in your hack/thread has installed it or not. I just learned this myself. :)

EDIT: beat to the first part

Well, this feature kind of already exists, but not really to the extent that you are talking about it, I don't think. If somebody replies in your thread and they have installed it, it will say so in their user info...but then again you probably already know this and I am just rambling on :)

I agree, it would be nice to be able to pull up a page for your mod that lists who has installed it.

This has been asked over and over again. It won't be happening due to privacy and security issues.

Privacy and Security issues? Since when is it a security issue to know who is using your copyrighted code and hours of hard work?

and where does the privacy part come from if it can be seen in their post?

The thinking goes like this ;

1. If you can see who installed it then you can hack all their boards with the crafty back door you incorporated.

2. By posting in the thread the installer is making the decision that they don't mind the author knowing they have installed it (but presumably they are still free to make use of that backdoor ..... ).

Don't laugh - it's all true - those are (afaik) the actual reasons.

Paranoia rules. :)

You can agree to our reasons or not, that's totally up to you.
but those reasons are valid and we won't change our descission.

That has nothing to do with paranoia...

If I want to hack a board I can also easily add a malicious code into a hack and then run it when someone installs...

The answer is no and we've given our reasons as Xenon said. I don't think there's a point to this remaining open besides for the same old complaining and whinging.
