Hi folks, my names Fabian Vercuiel.

I run a relatively new and small community aimed at Promoting the Digital media industry in South Africa. It's really important for me that I design the site in such a way that users find in appealing and a good source of information.

This site is in constant development but open to the public so feel free to check it out I'd love to hear some reviews from you guys. I've installed a lot of modifications that I found on Vbulletin.org so it might be a nice demonstration for those of you who are interested in putting up some mods on your own site.

www.cgcentral.net

My two latest features is my Art gallery and Studio Review area which is still very new and runs with Photopost and Reviewpost code www.photopost.com

There is 2 other features i'd like to implement in the forums and maybe you guys can give me some advice.

- I'd like to make some sort of Artist interview section but I dont want some basic thread I'd like to spice it up somehow.. do you know any nice mods for this?

- Also.. I want to put a secondary user database called "CGCentral Talent Database" where users upload themselves to a list with where they can choose which softwares theyre proficient at and which skills aswell as fields asking for their full names contact details and mini biography. It's basically a way for me to database all the talent in South Africa and at the same time give the members some exposure. If you know of any way that I can do this please do share.

Another issue i've been having is the fact that I dont only want to run a forum on my website but a portal aswell.. basically a simplified and more appealing version of the forum which is aimed at reading like a news site with pretty pictures and banners. Ive been customising Joomla but I fear it might not be the best portal to use.

Anyways enough of that.. crits please! :D

If you have any advice on how I could improve CGCentral please do share!

That is a nice site, you have there. Clean and easy to read - it looks pretty popular too :)

In relation to your query about spicing up a section for interviews, you might want to check out The Geek's (http://thevbgeek.com) GAR system (Geek Article & Reviews) I have it installed on my new forum (which I noticed you've registered at - and as such, I may have a proposition for you ;) ) and I intend on using part of it in a similar manner - for interviews.
