I don't know whether Skype icons are available in PSD format (chances are, they will be) you should be able to locate them in .PNG format. Anyhow, I will be needing such an icon so once I have created the Icon I will post it here for you.
I don't know when this will be done so I should say don't rely on the skype Icons being complete for atleast a couple of days

Hi, My Skype button seems to be missing and all I get is text "Send a message via Skype to Cayote" on member pages and in forums. All other buttons show up fine. The skype image "im_skype.gif" is in the correct places but just doesn't show up. I'm pretty new at all this so am not exactly sure what I should change/edit to get the actual picture to show up. Any help would be appreciated!!

I have to agree it would be nice to know where that skype icon is being pulled from and the ability to change it to match the differnet colored skins

Is thiat icon pulled from the server that supplies the information as to whether your online or not.....
Do a search for the thread that allows you to change the im status icons..
Try a search term such as Messenger icons or messenger status, theres a couple of hacks that allow you to use different servers thus showing different status icons :)

I did a search using a few different keywords.
I found nothing. Can anyone direct me to a thread?

I read a thread somewhere that said it's not working right because of changes on skypes end .. dunno if that's right but since I couldn't get it to work I just turned it off.

This has been covered quite a bit over on vbulletin.com. Do a search on those forums and you'll see lots of info about this new feature. Here's one:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=173815&highlight=skype
This new feature uses "SkypeWeb" to poll Skype's server for each users' online status. The problem with this scheme is two-fold. First, the icon they serve is ugly and secondly, their server goes down frequently, which causes our forum pages to stall and lag.
I think this feature was rushed out in 3.5.4. It's been reported as a bug, in fact, and last I read it was fixed for the next public release:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/bugs35.php?do=view&bugid=2317
I had added the SkypeWeb update to my previous install of 3.5.3 (to get a sneak peak.) I hated it. In the meantime, I edited my templates and removed the Skype bits completely. Much too much trouble to worry about all the time.
