It's irritating that HOTM is a sub forum of announcements. Unless it contains the latest post you need to click several times to reach it. And, no, I don't use the portal.
Seriously, it should be it's own forum up top. It might get more attention that way.
If you could put a coffee pot in there and a table for snacks that would be good as well. :D

Well, the reason is that there are already a lot of Top level forums, which is already problematic for users especially new ones.
we're planning a little re design of the forums, and may keep that one in mind :)

I don't think that's so much of an issue with the ability to hide forums now.

Too many forums already. >_< Am I the only person who actually thinks this? A normal forum just for HOTM seems like a very big waste to me.
I don't think HOTM needs its own forum, but I would like to see a return of the sub forums for types of hacks rather than the prefix hack.
Thanks,
Mat

0.5% voter turnout is a waste to me as well.
And FYI, it already has it's own forum. It's just hard to get to.

Then make a suggestion thread for that.

I know it has its own forum, I was talking about the amount showing on forumhome.

It already has it's own forum and it's already in the announcements forum. My only complaint, well not really a complain, an observation, is that no one can see it.

Perhaps enabling sub-forum display for certain forums would be a way of making everyone happy :)

Probably. I'm happy either way, just noticed it was tucked away and hard to get to.

Hmm, maybe add a link to the actual thread on portal page?
i mean you can vote there already, just not get to the thread...
and i agree that it's not really needed to have it's own forum alone, but maybe with future other contests?

that's not the point, long time users don't have a problem with much forums, but new users and guests are already overwhelemed by the ammount of forums....

What would be cool is if it could be like a site anouncement and be at the top of every forum as a thread, just while the voting is active. Then you might get more participation.

My site is pushing 195 forums - I need to make about 20 more.

Technically voting is always active...

Sometimes I miss announcements because I'm subscribed to the Announcment forums, and when I see HOTM I just tend to ignore the forum all together, if I allready voted.
