I've also just installed this on a fresh board (installed Timeslip 3.6 v 1.2) and everything went smooth, you can see the product installed, templates are done properly, but yet nothing appears in the user cp or the nav bar. Any ideas on where to look next?

I am having an issue.

Running 3.6.3, and did all of the modifications, timeslips.php is showing up just fine, however when I go into the profile, I can not click on the link to edit the timeslips, as there is just a gap for a link, without the wording.

Any ideas?

This actually did fix it on a fresh board install. So, since the test board worked, I tried to intall it again from the beginning on the active board.

I go this error upon the first step, importing the product itself.

It looks like you had already tried install the DB changes once, causing entry 50 to already be there. If you can, access your DB via phpMyAdmin (or similar) and manually get rid of those entries, then try again. Or at least look to see what entries are currently there....

hey bluebullet, you had pretty much the same issue as me. i used this guys file he modded and it worked perfectly. he has the horsepower in euro form tho so u will have the open the file and change it to WHP (its on line 355).

I'm afraid I cannot help you, your style contain too many XHTML errors as checked here:

the timeslips is valid XHTML, so the error cannot come from the hack itself.

My suggestion is that you should fix your HTML code on the header and footer template.

I removed the duplicate table entries and got the xml install to run without error - BUT now

for those of you with duplicate entry errors uploading the xml - I finally gave up on keeping the old data and wiped the following form my db

Went into the database, and also removed any timelips reference from vB_products, vb_productcode. Then I reinstalled the latest XML and everything is working fine afaik

that was it - there was a reference to timeslips 1.0 in the products table
so following your advice I removed 2 entries from one table and one from the other and reinstalled and now its working

I'm having trouble with the TD on vbulletin 3.5.0 (I know, I know). I've spent a lot of time manually cleaning everything out, and got the latest .xml file to load. The timeslip database displays correctly, but whenever anyone clicks to "upload a timeslip" or edit their vehicle profile, the following error comes up:

I have 3.0 version of the timeslip hack on my site and I just upgraded my VB to 3.6.4. Id I upgrade the hack to the 3.5 version and then the 3.6 version, will my timslip data be preserved? Did anyone upgrade their timeslips from 3.0 to 3.5 ?

My 1/4 and 1/8 mile ET's are not sorting correctly.

It is placing the double digits ET's above the single digits.

9.75 is the fastest time, but it is listed as the slowest.

If I make it 09.75 it sorts correctly.

Also the single digit cars are not showing up when selected.

Any suggestion?

it's because the phrases aren't displaying. To fix this search for "timeslips" in phrases manager and then edit and just click save even you don't modify anything. That should fix it.

Try entering a single digit time 9.9 or something and tell me how it sorts.

It keeps going after at the double digit 12.0 times on mine.

Does it need to be on a 2nd page? If not, it would be really easy, esp since WHP is already there. All you would have to do is duplicate WHP in the code and change it to WTQ, then duplicate the slip part of the code, rename one timeslip and the other dynochart. Change some field numbers, add a couple more fields to the DB, and its done. Only problem I see doing it that way is that it makes the table pretty wide. I could possibly create another page, but I'm not sure how well integrated the 2 pages would be.

How can I get permissions setup for only a certain usergroup to be able to input information in the timeslips database or maybe the edit vehicle profile to not show for certain usergroups in the usercp, I know about the edit profile that you can turn off for that particular usergroup but I don't want them to not update their profile in case they need too.

go to phrase and language manager, search for "timeslips", choose edit and just press save (without modifying anything). This will rebuild your phrases so that it will show up correctly. I did rebuild it on my php code but I don't know why it's not working.

If you have the latest version of the 3.0 hack, you just need to rename the table used to hold the timeslip image. The adding of the 2 fields in the profilefiled table is needed as this hack was written for VB 3.5 which has those fields. They were removed from vb 3.6 and need to be added back.

I have vb 3.6 . I installed the 3.6 timeslips and made the recomended hacks.
The import worked . Database tables created. I
The only problem is vehicle profile phrases are not recognized.

I will get the source for “Submit your timeslip” except since the phrase can not be found the there is no visible link <a href=”profile.php?&do=edittimeslip”></a>

Edit vehicle profile does not show up in user cp.

Timeslip navigation doe s not show up .

Headers (i.e. sort by, Vehicle profile data etc)



When I fat finger the ref’s in all works fine. I can enter data, it shows up in timeslips.



It all boils down to not recognizing vehicle profile phrases.

go to phrase and language manager, search for "timeslips", choose edit and just press save (without modifying anything). This will rebuild your phrases so that it will show up correctly. I did rebuild it on my php code but I don't know why it's not working.

I already had this hack .. Turns out I had to save the phrase edit_timeslip just like the others to rebuild it.

Now it works.
Everything appears to be operational.
The only instructions missing was the rebuild phase process when applying the 3.6 timeslip.

In fact more than that, a lot of the terminology needs changing for my users.

Tires/Tyres (sp), types of tyres, 60ft time (irrelevant here), Tranny - would prefer it so say Transmission, Power 'adder' I'd like to change to induction method, 'dragstrip' etc - all things that I need to change otherwise it'll be laughed at here.

Fantasic mod though - if I can change the above!

NOTE: I know I can change them in the User profile fields, but that is no use when they still appear in the table as Ride etc. I'd also want to change the 60ft, 1/8 et, 1/8 speed fields to 0-62, 0-100 and 0-Max speed times.

To change the column titles when someone visits your timeslip database is pretty simple.

Just go to your AdminCP -> Style & Templates -> Style Manager -> Choose Edit Templates -> Scroll Down and Double Click on "timeslips"

This will bring up your code. The easiest way I do it is hit Ctrl + F which brings up the find box. Then just type in whatever word your looking for such as ride and it will find it for you. Then replace that word with whatever you want there and it will change your title(s).

I do have one problem and I am not sure if it is something I did or not, I lost my avatars after installing the MOD.

This is the error I am seeing when I try to show the properties of the avatar:

it's the database.

in the XMLfile all database fields in the userfield table are set to mediumtext (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/blob.html)as the data type... And as the name implies, it's a text field.

Text fields and numerical fields are sorted in a slightly different manner.

The Quarter Mile ET is Field55 in the userfield table. If you have access to the database, change the field type from mediumtext to type: Decimal (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/precision-math-decimal-changes.html) Length/Set: 5,3 (this will allow a range of 00.000 to 99.999 to be entered)

obviously back up the table first, before doing any operation on it.

you should do this for all numerical entry fields ... they should should NOT be text data types, especially when doing any type of sorting or calculations. as in Site Averages!

Also, because you are converting the data type at the Database level, and not restricting the user to enter only numerical data on the front end... (I haven't tested it.. but) the user will likely get a database error when entering data in the 14 field that is not between 00.000 & 99.999.

The way around this is in the AdminCP under User Profile Fields->"" Manager -> Find and click edit for the 1/4 Mile ET field. in the Regular Expression Box enter ^\d+(?:\.\d{0,3})?$ in the description box append this: (numbers ONLY, up to three decimal places)

and you're all set for 1/4 mile ET, you will have to repeat similar steps for all other numerical fields

all you need to do to put the link back into the nav bar is follow this in the instructions:

Sweet! Got it working now! Thanks! I also upgraded to 3.6.8 and because of all the posts about losing info in this thread, thought I would share what I do. I save a list of all my php edits in a seperate folder thats easy to read, each text file is the name of the php file in my database that needs to be changed (basically cut and paste the specific instructions from each mod). When a new version of vBB comes out, I edit all the php files before uploading to my server and never get a mishap or lose stuff.

I'm not much a coder, so I'm not sure how it could be done. I don't want them to create another screen name, just to add a second timeslip for their 2nd car. Any help it appreciated!

Also the dropdown menu is missing the the words sort by its just a : can anyone help?

For the words, go to the vbulletin phrase menu and resave the phrases for the timeslip hack.

Everything seems to work ok except for the timeslip upload. There are no errors, the slip just does not show up.Same issue, this is a fresh install to 3.6.8. I can upload the image but there's no link to view it. Any ideas? Aside from that it's a great (& highly requested) mod :)

Resaving the phrase fixes the "links not showing up" issue... wonder if there is some bug in vB 3.6.8. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to rebuild phrases...

You can also ban users from editing their Vehicle Profile. This comes in handy if you have some users who insist on entering false data into the Timeslip Database just to be funny. To use this feature, just click on the user's vehicle profile, then click "user options" and set "Can edit vehicle profile" to no. The user will still be able to edit his regular profile, but not his vehicle profile.

This option doesnt work for me. The user is still able to edit the vehicle profile.

Installed! Works great for 3.6.8 here. Installation was a little tricky with several "duplicate field" errors but I was able to work through it by installing the xml, going to ACP and deleting all of the new user profile fields created by the timeslip mod installation. Then I would go back and install the xml again. Each time I was able to get a little further and eventually it ran all the way through without errors.

Is there anyway to fix the following:

members posting single digit 1/4mi times are sorted to the bottom of the list. A user with a 10.0 would be listed at the top but anyone 9.99 and lower would be at the bottom.

I have alot of members who only run the 1/8th mile. I have noticed that if they do not enter a time in the 1/4mi field then they do not show up on the timeslip page.

The reason that it always requires 1/4 mile ET to be greater than 0 is because all members have a default entry of 0.00 for all of their times on the list. You could change it so that 1/8 mile ET would have to be greater than 0, but then you would have to go through your entire list and make sure that all the users with 1/4 mile times also included their 1/8 mile times, or else they won't be listed.

Just import this and overwrite what you have now, then uninstall the product and revert and file edits you made by hand. You also have to manually delete the custom profile from your ACP.

PS - this mod getting ported correctly to 3.6.8 would be a good thing.

No I didn't see that, I just downloaded the 3.6 zip from this thread and noticed some of the profiles fields didn't appear as they should so I tried uninstalling it. A new thread would be GREAT, with clear instructions I'm sure it would help alot of people. In the meantime I just added a custom field in user's profile and display that in the postbit.

Adding an additional custom field to Timeslips.


************NOTES************

This is an update of EvilLS1's instructions located HERE (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=524771&postcount=247). His instructions were for vB Timeslip Database v2.1 (for the 3.0.X version of VBulletin). The instructions below update his very helpful post for use with the newest version of the vB Timeslip Database (v1.2) utilizing 3.68 PL2.

Adding an additional custom field to the Timeslips Database is a bit involved and due to the fact the original modification involves file edits, this addition does as well.

In the example used below, we are adding a single selection dropdown menu to add a field "Vehicle Color". Obviously, you can add any field you want, but make sure to change the specific answers and field names from the example below to suit your needs.

Also, (when reading the instructions below) please note that wherever you see "XX" on a file edit, you should be entering the fieldID # of the new custom profile field you created in place of "XX".

Files to Edit (3): member.php, timeslips.php, includes/functions_user.php
Templates to Edit (2): Timeslips, timeslipbit
Products to Edit (2): Update timeslips data, vehicledetails

As always, please backup your database and keep original copies of all modified files.

AdminCP > User Profile Fields > Add New User Profile Field

Choose Single-Selection Menu from the dropdown menu and click Continue

I think a lot of the phrasing is not correct for vb 3.6.8 which is some of my problem. The page title is also not showing up. There are a few items not showing up like the "Sort By". It only shows ":". But when I replaced the vbphrase with Sort By it showed up fine.

Also the second last question when submitting the information has a yes or no question but nothing is written there. The yes and no options are listed but nothing else. How can I edit what needs to be there?

Your database didnt create a necessary table. Upload the php file and than the xml file allowing overwrite. See which error you get since those are two different versions of errors.

The first error it the database error I got when Importing the XML file (Manage Addins - Import). When I got the error -- I thought that since I was upgrading from the old version that Evil1 created -- that the error was because the databases were already all that I needed existing -- so I continued with modifying the php files and the templates.

Then when I clicked the link for the timeslips.php -- I got that second error.

I was messing around with it before and it seems to be working now. Two things though and I am not sure if they are working right or wrong.

When you click details on the timeslip.php page, it jus takes you to the users profile, not sure if it is supposed to or not.

Also, when you click save on the edittimeslip page, it just takes you back to the page that you edit it on. I think it should either take you back to the timeslips.php page or wherever the above problem takes you.

Sorry guys, I just don't have the free time right now to completely rewrite this hack as was my original intent.

I've made a number of customizations to this hack, and have installed it on several large message boards.

single digit sorting issue is resolved (sub 10.0 times)
We have a new field Torque
Look at the Data! it's uniform! no more bs user input! I use RegEX to limit user inputs to properly formatted numbers! i.e. for 1/4 ET only numbers in the following format are accepte 99.99

On my site when you go to Edit Vehicle Profile under the USER CP, all of the vehicle profile field names have disappeared and each field just says "A" now. Is there an easy way to fix this?

No, you have to rename them manually.

If you have updated vBulletin since installing this hack you need to re-edit members.php per the install instructions. You should do all of the edits to the different files, if you have run updates.

Member.php is totally different in 3.70, so I can't figure out how to incorporate that edit into the new file. Everything else is done and everything works, I just get all "A's" in the fields when you go to edit vehicle instead of the right vehicle fields. I wish I could figure this out. It's driving me nuts..lol.

okay, i've installed this on a 3.6.4 vB board and for some reason it's not showing the extra profile fields when looking at a user's profile on the board [profile.php].

Just had to redo this for 3.71 do the edits to image.php and functions_users.php also if they are not there edit the USERCP_SHELL templates (mine were still there) and the names will show up. At least that's what just worked for me.

You did not enter the correct format for the Horsepower field. Please read the field description for the expected format.

I keep getting this error unless I delete the .00 at the end and then save it. I checked and made sure field 51 which is the horsepower field was set to 5,2 decimal. HELP thanks
