Hi,

I dunno if this is a good place to ask for help, but this is the most active forum if seen so far.
So i hope one of you can help me.

I've got site (duh), www.glcoti.com and i've had a problem with installing an addon.
It resulted in an error in the index.php and it wouldnt load my site.

After restoring the backup from a day before, the site worked again....but without some of the addons i had installed weeks/months before.

For instance the VBshout, Shoutcast_lite and topXstats have just disappeared from my forumhome.

I checked if the addons we're still active and installed corerctly and nothing changed.
The direct links to the pages still work (so http://www.glcoti.com/topXstats.php still works and so does vbshout...) but the template which should show on the forumhome doesnt.

I checked if the specific templates were still correct, and also there i saw no difference/problem.

I then deinstalled and reinstalled the addons in question....and STILL nothing.

Could someone please help me out here?!?
I've run out of ideas and i get all cranky when stuff like this happens and i cant explain whats wrong.

:(
I'm at a loss here people.
I cant install any new mods anymore.
They install ok (no errors), but non ever show up.

I am at the point of reinstalling the whole deal and stariting from scratch again. But i dont know if that is even possible.

PLEASE!! anyone... help me out here :(

I really don't know either but...

What error did you receive and for which hack? What exactly did you restore? The plugins "in question" may not be the culprit. Have you disabled all of the plugins and install new ones, one at a time, to see if they work properly?

Well, i cant remember the exact error (was somethign about a line in the index.php file..) but restroing the index file fixed that.
But now, alot of addons dont work/show anymore (see first post).

I unloaded and even deleted the addons that didnt work anymore and reinstalled them. But no use.

I've been trying to figure this out for a month now....but i just cant put my finger on the problem.

So now i am at the point that i would rather start from scratch again then try finding the cause.
But i dont wanna lose posts/postcounts/users/.. etc.
So basicly i wanna do a reinstall of the basics without any addons and then build up again.
But i have no clue how to do that or if its even possible....
Is there a way to "export" the basic database (so with only the useraccounts/posts/topics and then delete the current setup and afterwards import the exported database again???

Hmm...While I haven't done it myself, I think that you can manually select which database you want saved and restored. Rather than doing that, however, I would disable all of the plugins first by Admin CP. I say this simply because one or more of the current, working plugins may be the problem. After they are disabled, then install another plugin (e.g., vB Shout) and see if it works. Again, for the test to work correctly all of the other plugins need to be disabled.

If after you decide to start over I'd simply re-upload the core vB files and rebuild all cache. That should take your forum back to default. That should save you the trouble of re-doing the database. This of course we're assuming that your problem is a non-database issue.

I'll try that. Thnx.
Decided to upgrade to 3.5.4 first (still running 3.5.0). Maybe that will fix some tables/files also!!?
Its worth a try anyway :)

If that doesnt work i'll start with the reinstall .. :(

Upgrading is a good step. :) It should help with the files but I'm not sure about the Tables. Anyway, good luck. :)

did you try reverting your templates for the hacks installed that might help, also worth a try rebuilding bitfields go to adminCP>>>maintenance>>>update counters

Tried that.
No go.

And i dont think its something with the templates/styles themselves. Cause the problems is with all (4) of my styles and the problem occured when i editted one of them. So i didnt even edit all of them, and still they all have the same problem.

ok sorry i couldnt help it seems a wierd one,one thing i'm unclear is you say you restored a backup, what did you restore exactly?

GuaRRand

No, i didnt restore a backup. I just "restored" the index.php file which i had copied from a previous modification.
I only did that because i got an error about a line in the index.php file.
(which is strange to begin with, cause the addon didn't change anything to the index.php)

ahhhhhh try FTP your original index.php from when you first downloaded your vbulletin, the index.php you have FTP might be faulty,or it did not transfer properly, also did you make any edits to the index.php file for any hacks??

I have a bunch of addons....one might have required me to edit the index. But dont remember. i've done alot of editting :)

But it worked fine until that one addon.
No problems.

I'll see if i can dig up the original index.php and copy it over the current one again.

might pay you to go over all the hacks that you installed and see if any required index.php edits

Well..i already deinstalled alot of addons (also topxstats, if someone is clicking on the link mentioned above ;) )

I'll first update to 3.5.4.
If that doesnt work i'll upload the original index.html
If that doesnt work i'll try the reinstall ting..
