Integrate a full RPG System? Need permission from author?

I found an excellent RPG System. It's stand alone, but I'd love for it to be merged with vBulletin.

I asked the author of the system if he can integrate it, or if someone else to integrate it for me. I haven't recieved an answer yet, though. I emailed him a few minutes ago.

However, it is open source. It's free. Would I still need permission for someone to integrate it?

if you use it for your own use and not redistribute it then you are golden if you plan on redistributing it then u need authors consent (depending upon what license he used)

He just replied to me... probably 30 minutes ago. He says he finds no trouble with it. His RP system is... wow. Especially the map feature. Love it. The only thing I'm not fond of is the battle system. It works, but he's still working on it.

He's currently looking for help with it since he doesn't have much time. Any takers? The system is pretty good looking to me, but like I said, the battle system needs some work. PvP isn't working properlly.. He said it's something he's still working on along the road. But damn... the map is good IMO. ^^;

I downloaded the software and installed it...very easy to install...looks great.
From what i read the author is more than willing to let people modify it.

Would be worth looking at intergration.

There are many rpg out there that look good.

My suggestion is just putting a link on your forums to http://www.worldofphaos.com/index.php as it already has loads of player's and you can make a guild with your forum members.

What would be nice is someone just making a small modification to play this game in the forum template.

Aftermath:
I'd love to have RPG Inferno. Infact, that's the top in my list. But ZT has a big issue that's causing him to slow down. I don't blame him, but it is my money. I spent money waiting on a good RPG System with Zajako, and I thought of it as a waste of money.
