I'm am currently looking to purchase vb to set up on my site. My question is, is vb just for forums or does it have the option to use it as a portal system ( such as postnuke or phpnuke ) or do you need a mod for such a thing? If its a mod how hard would you say it is to install to a first time vb user?

Thanks for you time.

vB is a forum, but there are many mods to create it into portal systems. Mods for 3.5 (new version of vB) are very easy to stall, they may require one HTML edit, but other than that it is just uploading a few files, and following an on-screen installer.

Thats kinda what I thought but just wanted to confirm before ordering. Thanks for the fast reply.

One last question. Is there anyone in particular you would reccomend? Or point me as to where I should look for it. Thanks in advance.

vbAdvanced seems to be the most popular.

The most commonly used option, as Sir Adrian mentioned, is vBadvanced (http://www.vbadvanced.com/), though there are three other premium options you may wish to consider: vBPortal (http://vbportal.com/), phpCow (http://phpcow.com/), and subdreamer (http://subdreamer.com/).
