What does this do?
Give users the oppurtunity to be able to post new threads while still in forumdisplay. They do so via a "Quick Thread" link that results
in the drop down of the form for a new thread.

What features does this hack provide?
Quickthread from forumdisplay

Extra Threadfields Hack Integration
F.A.Q
Q. The quickthread link shows automatically, what if i want to place it manually?
A. Simply disable the plugin titled "Show Quickthread Option". Then go to the "FORUMDISPLAY" template and place $quickthread
wherever you want the option to show.

Q. Does this work with your "Extra Threadfields Hack"
A. Yes, simply enable the "Extra Threadfields Integration" plugin.

Q. How to i enable/disable plugins?
A. If you have not yet done so, install the "Advanced Plugin Manager - Reloaded" hack for better control over your products and plugins.
Feel free to resort to the following link for that hack: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?s=&threadid=97278

Maybe it's just something on my board but when I make a thread with the quick thread, it auto subscribes me to the thread.

Hm. It's not a problem with your site no. It does the same to me. I will look into this now.

For those of you wondering why it sais last updated today, it's just a small little change i made so that it only calls the phrasegroup needed in forumdisplay.

In other words, nothing different really. Simple tweaked it so that it doesn't do unnecessary things in unnecessary places.

I get a red cross in the window, must be an image missing???

It shows right at the end of the title box.

Cheers.

Oh man, I've been DYING for a simple hack like this!

Any chance you can add the posticons and smilie box in there? Perhaps as a useroption?

Great hack.

One thing, we want to place Quick Thread directly to the right of the NewThread button on ForumDisplay and have it associated with an image (i.e., quickthread.gif) instead of having it as a link with a drop-down menu. Can you show me how to do this. Also, as mentioned earlier by another user, there is a red x next to the thread title in the quick thread box. How do we fix that?

I apologize. I've clicked install :)

The red x appears to the very right of the subject/title field. I'm still having problems with that and the other issue (mentioned in my previous reply).

In the forumdisplay_quickthread template

Change:
<a href="#quickthread" id="quickthread" class="smallfont">Quick Thread</a>

To
<a href="#quickthread" id="quickthread" class="smallfont"><img src="IMAGEHERE" border="0"></a>

Also, the zip is being updated for the red x error.

Awesome, awesome. Also, would you mind telling me how to place it to the very right of the New Thread button. I want these two side by side.

Disable the "Show Quickthread Option".

Go to the FORUMDISPLAY template

Then put $quickthread after:
<if condition="$show['newthreadlink']"><a href="newthread.php?$session[sessionurl]do=newthread&amp;f=$foruminfo[forumid]" rel="nofollow"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/newthread.gif" alt="$vbphrase[post_new_thread]" border="0" /></a><else />&nbsp;</if>

Has the zip been updated yet? And for some reason, the button prefers to appear on the top of the new thread button, not to the side of it (as I want it to).

The inevitable gripe: Is there any way to stop this showing in forums where no posting is allowed?

In forumdisplay_quickthread make the following edit:

Replace:
<input type="text" class="bginput" name="subject" value="$subject" size="40" maxlength="85" tabindex="1" />

With this:
<input type="text" class="bginput" name="subject" value="$subject" size="40" maxlength="NUMBERHERE" tabindex="1" />

Can someone test this on 3.6.8? I have tried to set this up, but keep getting the following error when I try to post from the QuickThread box...
"Invalid Action Specified"

This mod worked the very first time I used it, every time since it hasn't.
