I run a Football site and I have a ton of nfl/ncaa icons id like to use for the post icons.
Is there anyway to either
a: limit the use of certain icons to certain forums (i.e setting up forum permissions rather then group permissions to use them)
OR
b: Have a folder/category system for post icons.
I am basically simply trying to avoid having a hundred diff icons residing under the text box when people submit new threads.

The idea for this hack is simple, imagine for larger forums......for example say a sports forum, under the post box where the post icons reside a simple folder system is created.
MLB Icons NFL Icons NBA Icons NHL Icons NASCAR Icons ...etc
A user simply clicks on the option they desire and post icons for each sport show up. Invision has a hack for this that can be found at nfl-fans.com and is very useful for larger boards.
The Invision version even has a dropdown box for NCAA and seperates it into conferences. Very very handy hack.

I made a few snapshots of what I am attempting to (probably poorly) describe in words.
The first is the default view, the second is what you see when you click on a category, and lastly is the drop down I was describing.

Devin, in your Admin Control Panel, right below the Avatars menu is a Post Icon menu where you can upload and sort more. No need for hack. Its easily done through vB itself. You can also adjust the display order as you see fit, as well as dissallow usage of the Post Icon system by certain usergroups.

Is there a way to enable certain post icon categories for usage only on specific forums with the existing vBulletin setup? I'd like to do something along the lines of what Devin wanted, only I'd like to limit usage of the sports icon to my boards' sports forum.

Right but you cant seperate the icons. If I added NFL, MLB, NBA and NCAA icons to the forums there would just be a boat load of icons there. In the screenshots I posted everything is nice and organized.
If I were to seperate them it would be by forum rather then by usergroup.

No. I looked into that a few weeks ago because I wanted to do it on my board, and much to my dismay, found no such feature built in, or hack available that restricts usage particular icons by catagory or usergroup.

I'm also interested in a plugin to limit a post icon group to certain forums.

I likewise greatly appreciate your efforts, Muerte, and will be installing your new hack as soon as I get back to my main box where the FTP program is. :)
I still share Devin's desire for a better model of post icon management, however. (At the very least, if someone at least could explain to me how to get each new post icon group to start on a new line, I would greatly appreciate it, because I've looked at the files in question and just can't figure it out.)
