forum permissions not working

ok...when i make a new custom usergroup...then i go to the forum permission page, find the forum i want it to have access to, click the name of the group and set whatever i want to yet (include 'can view') it should make it so that usergroup (as a secondary) can view that forum right?

it isn't working...i've tried this as both a primary and secondary usergroup for members...and they can't view the forums i have given them permission to view...am i missing something?

Make sure they don't have any access masks.
Also, if you're using it as a secondary usergroup, make sure the primary usergroup is allowed to have secondary usergroups.
