Preamble: Lilis Pizza, Pizza Messenger is an enhancement from one of my older hacks (at-lantis SMS System). The name Pizza, Pizza has no special reasons and is fine as any other. Lili is my lovely wife (best wife ever, Ephraim Kishon would say) that took care of me whilst writing this messenger. In fact I didn't eat any pizza whilst scripting.


If you start installation, you accept the terms in the enclosed copyright.txt!

Download the zip file
Read the install_lppmessenger.html

1. Import the product-lppmessenger.xml file in ACP. (Important! Import as product not as plugin!)
Now you are almost ready.
Now upload all files that are in the upload folder. Keep the folderstructure.

2. Apply LPP messenger settings.
In ACP you can now find the additional setting LPP messenger.
There you can activate the messenger and apply additional settings.

That was all. Now you have installed an additional communication system in your forum that surely pleases your users.

Installed ok, but trying to send a message as a test message but as soon as I press send I get an error saying:

Also, when I do the online.php edit within the whos online I get this error:

Ops, forgot to change the ID.

I get the usual popup message box and when I send a test message to me I get the usual white screen and page cannot be found.

I have 2 styles, the basic VB and a purchased template.

Test sent a message using the basic VB template and Im getting the same errors.

@The Realist: I installed the englisch version from first post also in 2 different forums a few minutes ago. Hack runs perfect in both forums, so I also can't reproduce your mentioned behavior.

Maybe a problem with your style (pathes?)?

Try to import the hack in a clean test forum with no other hacks and styles installed and check for yourself, that the hack is running well.

I have also 2 different styles in my forums, but the hack runs well on both.

Ok update.

I reinstalled this hack after having a brain wave and this is what I found.

Im running VBSEO and when I deactivated it for a test all worked 100%, so........ within VBSEO admin panel there is a area called:

Exclude Pages?
Use regular expressions here to exclude scripts and/or pages from being affected by vBSEO. This prevents rewriting as well as copyright insertion.

I added lpp_messenger.php to this and now it works 100% with VBSEO activated. :)

Something for the developers to look at in getting it to work with VBSEO.

Maybe you can use this for the vbadvanced template which one show the online users. (May you must make some little customizations, too.)

My messenger system ist more then 1 1/2 years old.

I never had used the pager system. Maybe the autor of the pager was influenced from my at-lantis sms system. :rambo:

The messenger need one query and 0.1 kb max for a message.

Normal PMs are stored in database. Pager messages are "on the fly". When receipant has read the message it is deleted directly out of database. There's no possibilty to store sent/read messages into database.

This has not been tested by me. I think PcFreak will give you a statement on this. So long try this at your own risk:

Uninstall product.
In product XML search for:

it works beautifully and comes up in the forumhome page with the pager graphic. now people who want to page can click on the pager before the user name or click on the user name if they want to view its profile. personally, i think giving the user the choice to either page or click on profile is a little better.

anyhow, you're definitely a rockstar for putting up with my request. one more thing though and i know this is asking way too much, but how would i accomplish the same thing in the "Online Users" module of vbAdvanced?

I am not sure. (i don?t use Advanced)
But there must be a vbAdvanced template which one show the online users.
This Advanced loggedinuser template must be changed.

Maybe you can use my lpp_messenger_loggedinuse template for the other one.

But now, you must change the relative path to the lpp_messenger.php in an absolute path. Therefore, because vbAdvanced used an other directory structure.

Ok heres another small 1 for you...

I have managed to sort 1 of my issues out but still have a small issue
that needs resolving please?

The popup window foe a message is fine, as soon as i click on the reply
button the new message window is too small, i have tried to amend this by adjusting the size but still the same, There are no scroll bars either... gis 5
mins and will have some images

1st image is Normal message popup
2nd image is after clicking the reply button (want to reply)

I really like this hack because a lot of members would like to be able to get in touch with others they see online at that moment to get them to the Chat Room or get their immediate attention. However, are you sure you can't make the Permission or Usergroup based? I don't want some usergroups being able to have this much access to other usergroups.

Let me know if you can or if this will be an added feature so that I can activate it.

Hi, I gladly installed this wonderfull thingy. I mangaged to get it working with the vbadvanced buddy-block as well and so it is used very often.
Just my two cents: It would be a perfect addon, when Admins could send out a lpp message to all online users at once (something like: Join us on our chat). Any chance to get this working?

Installed all files in directory structure
Enabled in admin cp including the older than 24hrs bit
Added user.lppstatus, to online.php

Nothing shows up on my forums page
Tried logging out and in again. Nothing.

I fixed it.
What it was that I'd installed lpp in its own directory.
Once I examined the error message carefully I saw it couldn't find its root .php file. It clearly needed it to go in the root vb directory, not in a special lpp directory.
So I uploaded the two folders in lpp's install directory + the .php file directly into my vb. It now works.

Except it just acts as an alternative to the existing private messenger. It still isn't possible to have an IM conversation which was really what I wanted. It's nice it lets me click beside someone's name but then all I can do is a single message not an exchange. Haven't got vbmessenger going. Still I live in hope.

There is a way to evade the editing of the online.php

The hook you are looking for is : $hook_query_fields

Unfortunatly I have yet to dive deeper into vBulletin and its Hooks to make a useful patch out of that information. Maybe someone else could do the fix and post it here, I'm sure a lot of 3.6.7 Users (I'm not sure if this hook exists pre 3.6.7 - as I only have those files available right now) would appreciate it.

Hi, I wanted to say thanx for this great hack.. one question though.. how do you enable this hack to operate on users that are not online? e.g. .. send messages even if they're not online..

If i take out the red/bold printed part.. and reimport the xml file .. would that enable the LPP system to work even if users are offline?

ok tested with 3.8, working fine but the members need to reload a page to have the popup opened? What's the point then... There is a popup system to inform users of new pm, looks the same.

Why does this only work for some users and not others. Sometimes it's every 3rd member, sometimes it's one perticular member who can't use it.
