Is it possible to change the vb.org browser favicon.ico to a more custom icon? Now it's same as vbulletin.com and vbulletin-germany.com and many other forums. Would be an advantage for user as me to navigate if having a lot of sites in a browser opened. :)

This one looks very nice, the backgroud is transparent not blue as on the screenshot, found it on the web some times before and don't know if there is a copyright on it?

These are better.
just created some custom vb favicon based on the new vb logo...
check it out ... icons are copyright GO-TOTAL LLC (aka princeton)
vb.org/vb.com you are free to use icons ... if you prefer another color just ask

princeton you cant copyright someone elses logo if you have only changed the colours by the way. They would still belong to vBulletin.

the favicon was created from scratch
vb logo is copyright to vbulletin
use of the favicon; owner of favicon GO-TOTAL LLC
if you compare the ones I did with the previous one, you will see that they are NOT identical ... the icons were made for vb.org/vb.com
if vb.com chooses to to include these favicon(s) over their current favicon that is fine with me

it's a trademark. Maybe it's not registered, but anyway. If what you said was true I could redraw the coca-cola label and say it's copyright me... Suggested reading: Copyright, designs, and patents act.
Furthermore what is the LLC suffix?

Limited Liabilty Copyright. If you redid it and didnt use the words Coke then you would be fine.

for one that speaks of legal matters, I am surprised that you are asking what "LLC" is ... anyway, here you go: http://www.bizfilings.com/learning/corptypes.asp (I just grabbed this link from google.)
again, no one is claiming copyrights to the "vb logo" just the ICON .. THAT I CREATED ... I'll rephrase my message (just for you) ... "Do not use without consent."
most of the readers here would understand what I meant with my previous message ... hence, I see no reason why I should post a legal notice alongside of my message
anyway, vb.org already has their favicon -- their happy; I'm happy

Yeah its just in England llc are called ltd I do copyright laws not business law. There is only so much one guy can know. :P
Corrie I couldn't re-do the coca-cola label and gain copyright for it. Since it is their logo and that would be totaly unworkable...
How about you redraw the windows logo and then file a copyright case for them using your logo you made?
Copyright is an automatic right for authorship of intellectual work. Recolouring someones logo (which is their i.p.) isn't intellectual work.

Not totally off topic here, but... how do you change that icon anyway?

Okay, I am determined to learn something here. I thought about that and restarted my browser and all that... So, what resets the cache?

It depends on the web browser, which one are you using?

FF 1.5
And I surely did not hit ctrl-f5. I am curious on both FF and IE what resets the cache though, as I obviously have members using both. :)

On firefox you can go to Tools >> Options >> Cache >> Clear.

using...
$output = str_replace('</head','<link rel="shortcut icon" href="'. $stylevar['imgdir_misc'] .'/favicon.ico" />'."\n".'</head',$output);on the above plugin
will allow anyone to change favicon per "style" ... all you have to do is add the favicon to the "misc" folder for that style ... NOTE: "misc" folder is controlled via style manager (stylevar)

In all styles except "Smooth Blue" (the one I am using), the favicon is linked in the head-section :D
I should switch to another style ;)
Smooth blue's headinclude template has custom code, all the other styles work from the master set.
You should be able to see it on smooth blue now. :)
