This is to install an addon to vBAdvanced for AboutToday (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=107319) . It assumes that AboutToday is installed, the RSS Feeds are active, and "How many rows across for $myfeeds variable?" is set to greater than zero.
In vBa CMPS, Add Module - Template.
1. Module Title - Make this whatever you want to display
2. Template to Include: adv_portal_myfeeds
3. Template Content:
<tr>
<td class="$bgclass">
$myfeeds
</td>
</tr>
4. Save it and refresh your vbadvanced index page!

I think you will also like the new feature in AboutToday ver 1.1 where you can turn off the local events since I don't think you use that. It will make your main AboutToday page a cleaner listing of your RSS summaries.
Note - you must install the latest version (at least 1.1 Gold) of AboutToday for the vBa mod to work!

OK I have everything working right but I want it the display 2 different feeds.

You can display as many feeds as you want but they have to be in the same vBa block.

Okay, you're set! I forgot to tell you that for each RSS Feed, you need to tell it if it should be included in the $myfeeds variable. (see the attached pic. I mis-labeled the variable as $displaymyfeeds on this screen ... need to fix that but it doesn't impact the operation.)
You vBa page is looking good! - http://www.bulldogbbs.com/

The problem was that the template was created for your default style but that wasn't inherited by the Kirsch-fixed style. I created the template for that style and all is well!:)
p.s. I tweaked the feeds a bit too while I was in there so that you really get a 3 column display.

meh i figured it out and turned up with this http://www.gentendo.com/index.php
try clicking on one of the news articles, that was what i was trying to do:P
OH and BTW in your cache_template plugin, use a better template system, the way you have it now is terrible.
How can i put each news article into a seperate box instead of all into 1?

Well, I don't mind constructive comments but you need to provide more detail about why it's "terrible".
Blaine0002

Well im not sureif that plugin is being used by somthing else, but for the portal i would reccommend you using an actual module and templates, this way users can customize the overall look and feel.
Ill see if i can fix somthing up for you in a bit.

Now that I really look at it, I'm not sure that the template that is merged at the beginning of it is used for anything! I think I was testing it and forgot to delete the code!

Have you assigned any of the feeds to the variables that can be displayed in vba? For example, in admincp -> AboutToday -> RSS Feeds, you will need to have "Include this Feed in $myfeeds variable?" set to "Yes" for each feed that you want to display when $myfeeds is used in vba.
If you need more help, pm me your site url with an admin login and password and I'll take a look at it for you.

You are now up and running. You were really close! You just needed to set "How many rows across for $myfeeds variable?" (under admincp -> AboutToday -> Settings) to 1.

Awesome. I must of misread your intro instructions. I thought it was supposed to be zero:
This is to install an addon to vBAdvanced for AboutToday . It assumes that AboutToday is installed, the RSS Feeds are active, and "How many rows across for $myfeeds variable?" is set to greater than zero.
I really appreciate it.:D

i haven't tested it, but you should be able to use the $myfeeds2 and $myfeeds3 variables for this... just create different modules for each, and edit the code accordingly.

However, right now categories within the RSS Feeds aren`t supported.
by default, i have this as a left column module... i enjoy the feature, however the spacing is a tad untidy... a lot of unused space

Thanks for this add-on. Everything works fine for the stock CNN and Yahoo feeds. However, there are problems with non-latin1 character RSS feeds. No info. can be pulled from blogs that use non-latin1 or UTF-8 character sets. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance.
