In the near future I'll host a contest offering my members the option to win licensed security software such as Antivirus / Firewall etc. So, I thought of a system where members can fill in an application form (Administrator can specify and create needed fields). All aplications are stored in the database. System can be configured to have opening and closing times, for example:
Start Time on Friday, February 17, 2006
End Time on Saturday, February 18, 2006,
so submissions will not be accepted if the time has elapsed.
The difficult one, is now.
System, in a specified time by the Admin, will randomly select the winers. If more than one different items are offered, then, all members should have the same odds to win an item.
In my case, lets say 5 antivirus programs and 5 firewalls for 1000 members.
First, system choses randomly who wins the 5 antivirus
Secondly, system do subtracts the 5 winners and in a total of 995 members, choses who gets the 5 firewalls.
P.s The substraction should be an admin's decision so "all members should have the same odds to win an item".
