irc , flash chat, thats about it that i remember but irc is probably the best all around chat since it can be free.. but if your willing to pay the flash chat isnt bad it looks kinda cool.. i prefer irc over anything though since ya can have stand alone users connecting to it as well

IRC is the best there is, its what I have on my new server, best thing about IRC is people can use things like MIRC, or Trillain.
I love flashchat and so do my users.

yep plus when you get familiar with irc and if ya rent your own server you can throw eggdrops on it to do all kinds of stuff to make your chat better
and even if you use free servers you can run windrop and run eggdrop type scripts off your computer

yup I am still learning. Right now I am transitioning getting the IRC on the forum. but many members have been using it through mIRC or Trillian and enjoying it.

Thanks for the replies ;).
You talk about irc, but there is a plugin or extension to integrate ir with vb? I?ve found the plugin to integrate flashchat, but not irc.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again, Simon.
You can put a simple javaclient on your site so users without a IRC program can chat. As far as intergration with vBulletin user accounts there is nothing out there.
Flashchat is nice, but I hear it can eat up server resources quickly if there are a lot of people in your chat room.

Flashchat is nice, but I hear it can eat up server resources quickly if there are a lot of people in your chat room. That is true in it's standard http mode - I would not recommend more than 25 concurrent users, less on some systems. It has a second mode (called socket server) which will handle much more - however this mode is somewhat buggy, lacks full integration, and hard to get working.
