Seeing as we are mostyl all webmasters, i was wondering how many of you all are anticipating the google pr update? Few people often stress that google pr is not really an issue. However, it is pretty much starting to dominate the "webmastering" world. It increases domain sales, helps site marketing, and gives webmasters more of a motivation to improve their site and know how to do so.

Many of us often use page rank predictors such as
http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_prediction
Wondering if it'd give us the prediction we're hoping for and will it come true.

Or we check our pagerank every now and then using
http://www.prchecker.info
To see if anything's changed.

Who's anticipating this update? What are your new predicted PR ratings?

That's because that's the name of your website. This is the case with most websites.

You should also try and keep the old domain and redirect it to keep traffic as well.

I don't have much traffic though.

But if I make a permanent redirect to my new domain will the PR carry over next update? (whenever that update would be)

The update was supposed to take place the last week of January. However, since it did not, it should happen any day now.

PR is absolutely useless as an indicator of SEO. I spend more time thinking about paint dry than I do about it these days :)

how do you check your PR?

TruthElixirX

..check his first post. Thanks.

I don't really care about it. I'm just curious. SEO and stuff is important but I find other ways of advertisement more... productive.

I know SEO is important and helps to boost your site and all that. But I don't bother with it, as Google are always changing the way they rank sites anyway. Which means you have to change your SEO accordingly if you want to keep up with it to get the best.

So I don't bother, too much hassle. vB is pretty search engine friendly anyway without it.

Hehe.

Well, for business's, SEO is very important due to the fact that i'm sure every business would want their site to be one of the first listed in their category when entering that keyword. I normally don't care, however, it's becomming more and more of a big deal everyday with people constantly worrying about it.

Yes, SEO is important. But running around preaching and worrying about PR is a waste of time. PR is simply an algorithm, a ranking strategy for Google that no other search engines use. The PR ranking tools are absolutely useless as an indicator of your websites relevance as it doesn't compare it to keywords, which are what users will always get to your sites by.

Still means alot in the business world like he said. You show a Pagerank of 6 and you are going to have a lot more rank to sell advertisement and links than a pagerank 3 site.

Don't know if that was directed towards me. However, i am not running around "preaching" or "worrying" about PR. I simply decided to start a friendly thread to see what people think and how people are doing as far as PR is concerned perhaps.

Which is another myth started by web-professionals. There are a lot more important things to consider when contacting an advertiser.

I'm begining to think the page rank "prophet" is broken. Quite a few people are getting bumped up to 5.I tested four live sites, all got predicted to rise to (or stay at) 5. I tested my test forum, and it's set to rise from 0 to 1 ........

Oh, btw, what is PR anyway ?

I think the only factor it comes into play is when someone links something on your site and depending on your pr rank, the spiders will crawl that link accordingly.
