Where to place code for a banner

I would like to put a banner in my forum next to the Welcome box. I know the code would need to be placed in the navbar template but I cannot figure out where. Attached is a screen shot of where I want the banner to go. Can someone please tell me exactly where in the code I need to place my banner code to get it there?

not recommended as the breadcrumb could get big ... eg. it will push everything to the right
