i think its great, keeps a thread to a minimum,i use it on my forum to stop members gaining more on the post count, but i think you'll find if you click "post reply" it will allow a seperate post without automerge

the auto-merge is actually made FOR stopping useless bumping of threads...

that is sure why you find is horrible and annoying, it is built to stop you from doing what you want...

bumping is not permitted here, so be aware of that...

Bumping is allowed, it simply must not be excessive.

Rule 1.4
No senseless "Bumping": Please do not bump your request/help searching or other threads several times a day. Remember there are people who don't browse this board every hour. So do not bump a thread within 24h or too much even after 24 hours

nexialys, it's time to stop acting like a moderator. You've been doing it for a while now and now it's getting on my nerves as you tell members about rules that are not right and then basically abuse them for not following a rule. That's not your job, and it's not appreciated that you do this to members when they do something that is "the wrong thing" in your eyes. This is what that thread in Site Feedback was talking about, unfriendliness in the community, and right now, most of it is coming from your posts.

This is your warning. Stop now or you won't find yourself in a good position. If you want to reply to this, PM me, don't ruin this thread. Thank you.

Is there a max number of characters that has to be typed so it won't get automerged?

No, but if you wait 24 hours.....

There is no way to get around the auto-merge; It will occur in non-modifcation release forums until 24 hours has passed...

There is only one way to get around it where it functions, and to do that you have to be Staff :p
