View Full Version : Sortable, Custom Columns

I have an idea for a new forum, however there are some things that I would like to do that I know the basic Vbulletin doesn't allow.

Basically, I want a forum with custom and sortable columns with headings such as date, name, location, category and price. So when users post a new event, before submitting the thread, it is mandatory to fill in the necessary fields (possibly drop-down menus)... these fields will then be sortable by Date, Name, Price etc. Essentially the same way one is able to sort now by views, replies etc... but with added custom columns...

I've tried searching under "custom columns" and "sortable columns" but to no avail... at least from what i was able to comprehend. I know that this must have been talked about before... any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

awesome... thanks man. I love vbulletin and it's interface, its professional look so I really wanted to see if it could work on this forum before trying to find another one. I've seen a couple options put there and in order to get the above I would have had to sacrifice some of the nice things one gets with a vb package.

I want my cake and eat it too!

^that hack suckors(no disrespect)... it takes an hour to install... we need a plugin to do this shit instead of a mile high of code edits

Any other opinions on the above hack? It looks as if the hack above only allows for one field (prefix) whereas I need at least 4 or 5 dropdowns.

Developer, any thoughts?

I would love to get a hack for this sortable column/custom column field. It is necessary to get my site off the ground and running.

Haven't we gone through the language and rudeness bit with you before? Please refrain from the "hacker speak" and swearing. It just turns off people who might even halfway consider your requests.

There are some similiarities but different enought to merit it's own hack (of course I would say that :) ) what I am looking for would somewhat resemble how an excel worksheet would work. The Titles (where the choices are custom and available in a dropdown before posting) at the top and would be sortable. An example of how it would function would be much like a caledar where one could sort by date, event, category (all of which was presented at the time of creation of thread)
