Guess who's going back to school?

Ok, so seeing as it shows me as the thread starter it's a bit of a give away :p

I'm going back to college on Tuesday to get some up to date qualifications. Nothing fancy, but thought I might as well get my ECDL seeing as my last computing qualification is 10 years old and was done on a BBC!!!!!!!

I'm a bit nervous though. Last time I set foot in a classroom, or college for that matter, was a millenium ago. (Told you I was old!!)

So basically, I thought I'd let everyone know as support for my mods will be very limited till I finish college in summer. That's not just coz I'm going back to school though, but because I'm also going to be training someone up to work with me on some of the simple stuff to free me up for a big project that I'm starting. That'll be fun though as my trainee knows jack all about vB or HTML or php, so it literally is going to be an intensive crash course that he gets so that some form of normallity will resume.

I've actually lived with a guy I met on a BB. It was actually a vB.

I've also been out on dates with people I've met on BB's and some of them we stayed together for a bit, others we just had the one date.

The scary thing is that they always broke up with me for being too geeky. All except the one I lived with, but thats another story.

Just a quick update on this.......

Whoever thought that the course would take 21 weeks going twice a week was obviously trippin!

I've completed 3 weeks (6 lessons) and passed 5/5 exams taken so far with scores of 90% and above, I'm taking 2 more exams this week, then I've just got one more module to complete which will take me probably 1.5 or 2 weeks.

I'm planning on doing the Advanced ECDL course to take me through to summer, as it'll stop me getting bored, plus up-to-date qualifications are always useful.


I'm going to the local college (university) on Weds this week to look into starting a degree in September.

I'm looking at the following courses:
BSc (Hons) Internet Systems Development (http://www.bolton.ac.uk/courses/course_display.asp?single=bsc_isd&mode=single&template=uni)
BSc (Hons) Computing (http://www.bolton.ac.uk/courses/course_display.asp?single=bsc_comp&mode=single&template=uni)

I'd prefer to do the first one, but if I can't get on it then I'll go for the second one.

What do you lot think about them?


Does anyone know how UCAS points are worked out these days? Last time I totted mine up was 8 years ago and they've changed the points to 'A' Level grades ratio so I don't know how to work mine out.

I just completed 7 years worth of college (coming away with 3-4 Associates and a few tech certs/certs of proficiancies (sp?) and I may go back in the fall for another degree (just need 5 classes). I am fixing to start teaching night classes in a little over a month for computer basics and another class for fixing your computer (from virii/malware/etc.).
