Did one resign recently or was there a swift kick to a fanny-bottom? :dead:

Explain.
Explain what?
There is one less moderator listed for this site since last week and the question is 'what happened'? It's not a .org policy as far as I'm aware to remove mods here.

He left kind of voluntarily. I can't divulge more unless an administrator says it's okay. He wasn't really fired per say, but his position suddenly resulted in a conflict of interests.

How strange, he really seemed to be getting into the role.
Is a replacement expected then ?
Edit: oooooh, filbert has edit his reply, let the speculation begin ;)

Chris did resign because of a conflict of interest. That is all that is to it.
If/when/who might be replacing him is not discussed yet.

Just to clear something up, we are not searching for a new Moderator atm. There is no use to start PM'ing staff members applying for the job.
If we will be looking for a new Moderator, we wil either approach possible candidates, or out up an announcement asking people to apply.

You guys are missing the point. I think you have a right to know why Chris was removed of his position. I won't elaborate.

i don't care a ***k about why he quit... i hope he is happy with his life, that's all.. i wish him luck!
why bother on why and how a member of the group is joining or quitting... this is just for lucious curiosity, for people that have no life to live...
the clients here are asking for answers to their questions; whoever may answer, they don't care... they just want the answers...
edit: can the moderator close this thread before that comes to flamings ?

Although i don't see what more can be said about this subject, i will leave the thread open for now. Let's see if we can have a civilized thread for once.

none? ok...
Good luck to Chris M. in his future endeavors. Nothing wrong with a little competition. :)

Amy's rule of forum administration - never ever hire somebody as a moderator who asks for the job. What a bizarre rule you work by - you don't 'hire' people who actually want to do the job ??
It's no secret I applied when Chris was appointed, and yes, I would again. :)

Chris has been an active participant on these forums since the days I started posting. I remember the good old days of him spamming the vB.org mail discussion forums :) He's one of the few people that made up the "community" here. It's sad to see him go just because he is starting up a project of his own. I have no doubts whatsoever that he would not use his position here to gain a competitive advantage.

I like chris a lot but he HAD to know that something would happen with those actions. I wont belittle him with stupidity to assume otherwise.
Let's just make it be known he did not resign as far as I am concerned.

I will not say the full extent of reasons but vBulletin.org did what they believe was right, weather others think its right or wrong its up to them not us. This thread is bound to be locked soon purely because its talking about a new bulletin board which may not even get created.

Why was the project stopped and if so,now there shouldnt be a conflict right? Or too much bad blood?
Chris decided to start his own forum software company (http://www.cx-board.com/), the administration felt there was a conflict of interest having him on staff here while he was developing a competing forum solution. This is why he was stepped down by the administration.

If you actually read the site the development is stopped, and has been for awhile now.

I am aware of the status of that project and there is an on-going discussion between the administrators and Jelsoft regarding Chris's status.

With development stopped, why not give him his status back as we all know its stopped. Its clearly stated. Yes I am one that was working on it with him but me and him decided to stop development. Its aggrevating that this has happened but I'll get over it.
Chris is a good guy and means no harm to anyone nor does he like to cause trouble. I think that if he stepped down or was forced then it shouldn't be an issue here. Everyone knows that Chris still visits the site but if the administration and jelsoft are still discussing, then something is up after all we have stopped development.
Cheers

We are waiting confirmation to bring him back on board now that he has changed his website to clarify that he has ceased his own BBS software project. It's a sensitive issue, so let's not speculate. :)
