Prune old posts in ongoing threads

What iam looking for is somthing to prune old posts
in ongoing threads.

I dont want to delete or prune the thread i like it to
continue but sometime threads become to long
and deleting the post deletes users post count
and they dont like that.

Can anyone suggest somthing.
