How do you guys feel about my forum/start page? I updated it a TON. Made it a lot cleaner.

Most of the features are only viewable to registered users though, but you get the idea.

I made the welcome block pretty big with inbox, sent, quick links, etc all clean. Have notifications of new mail, buddies, etc like myspace.

What do you guys think?

START PAGE looks horrible (check page in firefox)

The portal page is too busy. I suggest removing some features.
95% of your viewers probably won't even bother reading / viewing / scanning this page for it's content ... it's just overwhelming.

You have a big gap (padding) at the top of the page (about 100px). Try to remove it.

I agree with chris.
A negative Point is that the Quicktime Plugin is needed. That scares off a big percentage of users immediately.

Get rid of the fake and idiotic pseudoinformation bar at the top of the page. Not that I hate it or anything.

Quicktime was triggered because of a paypal donation plugin. That was removed.

I would limit the amount of the last active posts...way too many, imo..maybe keep it at 5 or 10. There are at least 3 different places for links, maybe too many there, maybe cut the hot topics in half as well. I think it is just an overload on the portal page, makes it hard to focus and read. But I think you are on the right path...keep up the great work! :)
