I was browsing the forums when i realized that vb.org has absolutely no advertisements. Why don't you guys put a 468x60 banner right on top of the header navigation so that we can pay for advertisements and stuff?
I'm positive that a lot of people would be able to appreciate this due to the fact that coders, skinners, etc. can advertise their services.

why advertise ?!
this forum is partnered with Jelsoft, why advertise someone else?
why not have a clean, proper crisp no-ads forum sometimes...
if banners come to spread here, i quit!

They can have general advertising aside from that. Just like what www.namepros.com does.

Because it is still endorsing a product regardless of its generalized demeanor.

I would have been in favour of this idea, but having seen vbseo advertised to death on an other board, I feel it wouldn't been a good idea.

I dont particually think vb.org has a need to display advertisements, they are generating their income through other avenues and the implementations of advertisements would only draw away from the important and relevant content on the forums.

I dont see what the big deal with one banner would be. vB.org could generate a whole lot of revenue with a single 468x60 ad. If they want to do it to help cover costs and possibly more, all the power to them. A banner never hurt me, I doubt one has ever hurt anybody else either.
I don't think we will be running banner ads on here anytime soon, sorry.

lol I said it because i noticed that other sites i'm on have ads all over the place. Not in an annoying way, but in a way that they're there but not in your face. And not even in that forum do i advertise. I've thought about paying for it, but i haven't. It was more for everyone that i thought of the idea. I guess it would have been a step closer towards people being able to advertise their commercial products. Anyways, seeing as the suggestion isn't to popular, IT WAS JUST AN IDEA!

your idea is not bad gio, the point about adding banners btw is usually about financing the website... and i'm really sure that vb.org will never need to be financed to pay the hosting or anyother related thing...
the only thing banners would be used for is advertising commercial tools for vB. .. and i'm sure we will have all the other solutions made before adding banners for that, because we(i'm sure the team is we), think that all are equal, and giving the ability to advertise in a different way for the ones that have more cash will not make things better... equality usually mean neutrality.

I would pay 300/400 dollars to have my banner at the top of vB.org...
But I am sure many won't. That's their problem.

I would have to save for 3 or 4 months to be able to get 2500 dollars surplus, and only probably get 500 more members out of it. Hardly seems worth it really.

vB.org would be a privilege to be displayed on for advertisers, it is not a question of hits on your banner, but the value of vBulletin.org that would make the cost higher...
i have two parenting websites that bring advertisers that pay more than 5000$ quarterly to be displayed as sponsors for the forum... the reasons: i have more than a million hits per month... even if these sponsors have not a single click on their banners, they are willing to be displayed anyway because the image still in head.
