Hi,

I've just moved from phpBB. With phpBB I had quite a few ranks set up that were given to users manually. The ranks had nothing to do with usergroups and gave very little in the way of perks.

1. Is there a way to make ranks or titles with vB work essentially the same? I want to just assign them, not give them based on post count.

2. Is there a way to have ranks or titles given based on an accumulation of, say, "points" and have these points given based on various events (such as someone ranking a gallery image "7" or higher or perhaps clicking a button that says "give this user one point.")

3. Can I add additional ranks or titles easily?

4. I've been looking for mods that have to do with ranks and titles but so far haven't found any for the newest release. Anyone know if any older mods will work with the newer version?

Thanks for the help!

As far as user points for various things...I dont know that you'll have much luck with that. I know there is a cash and shop mod being developed, but I'm not sure how far along it is. Go here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=100) for more info.

As far as ranks, yes, everything you listed can be very easily done. When you go to the User Manager and edit a user, you can edit their Title (rank)...be sure to select Yes for custom title underneath that.

Thank you very much GTace!

After looking at the user edit area I was not able to locate the "ranks" edit ability. I did find how to change titles (THANKS!) but am still wondering if I can do anything with user ranks.

Barring that, is there a method of turning off the site ranks that are based on post count? I've looked, cannot find the answer but feel like I'm getting closer.

Thanks for your patience with a new vb user!

To remove ranks (actually called Titles) based on post count...go to User Title Manager and delete all of the titles listed there.
