Quote message in reply?

I want to have this always checked, I added "checked" in the template and it sort of works. Howeve, if a user comes into a thread and uses the quick reply at the bottom BEFORE click the "quick reply" button .. it unchecks the box.

before clickin the "Quick Reply" button in any post then what would be quoted ?

Nothing .. but then if you're still reading the thread and want to quote something all of a sudden - so you click the quick reply button - the check box isn't checked.
