filburt1 just posted a new thread in the Lounge... he is the moderator of the Lounge, so complaining in a report would be useless... so i complain here!
details: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=105053
vBMS for vBulletin 3.5 update
I have received many questions about vBMS; specifically, when it will be available for vBulletin 3.5 (the current version is only 3.0-compatible). I just posted a long-winded reply at http://www.webdesignforums.net/showthread.php?p=179259
filburt1 use the Lounge, that is supposed to be used to talk about everything BUT vB and hacks... this is the first problem.
second problem, this thread is about promotion about the development of his own tool, SOLD commercially... with all due respects, we had this discussion that is on debate actually: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=102471
so this thread is a second problem regarding posting rules.
as a third detail, he is talking about the development of a non-free hack, means that he is not providing a free demo of his tool, another point break the rules...
---
i'm not sure if filburt1 wants to follow the rules, i commented this in the thread, no echoes... but if something can be done, please do...

I agree entirely. I can't see why that thread was made other than to create a buzz...

One more rule that's actually written down:
2) Paid hack, scripts or commercial addons can be discussed in vbulletin.org without being promoted. However, authors of the commercial hack or addon cannot start threads discussing their own products or promote it in anyway in vb.org posts. If a commercial hack discussion thread turns into a promotional thread, it will be closed or deleted. If authors are found using another account or encouraging a friend account to circumvent this rule, all accounts involved will be banned.

Lots of people would love to advertise their paid hacks on VB.org, it's not particularly fair that mods get to do it, whilst others don't.

One more rule that's actually written down:
Who will decide if a thread will have promotion or not ? I believe in any case it will be a promotion.

Leave him alone :( :P
this is not a personal matter, this is related to rules to follow... even if he is a moderator of that forum... he have no more rights than all the other forum members... even more, he have to be an example for all due to his rank... if he wants to advertise, he can simply drop his role and wait for the "commercial" section of the site if one is brought in the future...

Quick question, why did you decide to post a public notification vs pming a staff member or admin?

hum, because i usually "report a post" but the moderator of the forum is the actual poster.... and this forum is actually for Feedbacks... so i give one!

I think there could be an unwritten rule somewhere that allows it :)

i truely love vBMS but it definately should be removed. after the whole flame each other to death marathon over commercialism on vb.org we really should not allow this type of thread. im some what surprised filburt posted it, him being staff and all.

I agree, take it down. He is a moderator here, he should have known better and I bet he did....

What is to debate here and why is the thread still up? If VBSEO or TheGeek came on here and made the exact same thread about updates to his products that are not offered free someone, possibly even Filburt1, would have locked or deleted the thread as soon as it was seen.
Now try to tell me no mod has been on this site today and seen that thread.
'cos double standards are twice the fun ? :D :D

Action will be taken when someone with the proper authority to do so notices this thread. As some may know, I only have moderating abilities on the release forums. If it were otherwise, the thread would have been closed when I first realized it...Now, I know some of you may be on the edge of your computer chairs waiting for some official action to be taken, but there is nothing that can be done right now untill a staff member with the rights to-do does what needs to be done. :) I apologize for any confusion this may have caused for some members, the rules have not changed...

um Filburt1 is the mod of the Lounge... have him close it ;)
or delete it for that fact, simply closing it still provides him with the free advertisement.
That is like a spammer coming on here with 1 post and you simply closing the tread leaving the referral link inside the post he made ;)

You're right, prima facie it breaks our no spam rule, so I'm moving the thread in question to the Staff Lounge for further action.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Just for future reference, please report threads, at least as well as posting a public complaint thread - We don't always look here ;)
