View Full Version : Coloured User Groups Legend/Key

Alteran Ancient

This is just a basic version, ported over from version 3.0.X

This will add a nice little legend at the end of your Forum, above the Active Users Box.

Here is a Live Demo of the end result, from the original 3.0.X Series, hopefully with the same results.

This is my first release of any kind, so go easy on me!

UPDATE: I have made one or two tweaks and changes to the file, and changed the file format

nice, I like how it doesn't add as much space to the forum as Amy's does. Nice and compact.

Can you choose the order the groups shows up in?

So? At lease this one you can customise if you know some HTML! *Feels Offended*No offense was intended. Personally, I'd prefer not to have to manually code the user group legend. Every time I changed usergroup colors, added a new one, etc, I'd have to update the template. However, as evidenced by this thread, some people prefer yours over hers. Good job. :)

It's nice, but, you didn't explain how to get the various users to show up as those colors. Doing the Legend in the Forumhome template is the easy part.

(Figured it out. Nice job. Like this)

Ok, am I missing something here? Is the extension supposed to be .mht? If so, this is the first time I've seen this extension. Is it a module?

It opens with Internet Explorer. It also opens in word, because I built it in word and saved it a a SinglePage Webfile. It is an MHTML

Hi, this is a great hack Ilove it.

I just have one question.

Is there a way to make the usernames get color in the Statistics, The forum homepage ( last post ) section, and in my top poster hack ?

Is there some kind of ? i should look for ? I already serached for $activeusers but that only shows up on 3 templates. Is that the right thing to be looking for ?

Thx alot :D

I know I have seen it somewhere in the ACP, but I can't for the life of me remember where it is or how to do it... how do you get the various usergroups to show in the various colors to coincide with the legend? *Brainfart* LOL

server557
02-06-2006, 08:42 PM
Isnt there a mod here that automaticaly does this?
Such as display all usergroups in the ledgend, with the styles that you applied to the user title in the usergroup manager with its own admin block to modify what is displayed and what order its put on?

With all these hardcore coders that hang out here, I would have thought someone would have done this, instead of you manualy having to add HTML every time you make a new usergroup or change one.

Ive seen a mod like this for Inv. PowerBoard, maybe you guys can make this work for vBulletin

GTAce

Yeah, you can find one similar to what you are talking about here -

I'm not sure if it is supported/bug-free though

I like it the only thing i modified was the caption.
From 'Legend' to 'Forum Staff'
I think this hack is great, simple and not to fussy when adding to coding.

Second Box: </span>

Replace red with the colour you want.

What are we suppose to do with this one?

You Add It Directly After <div style="white-space: nowrap"><phrase 1="$recordusers" 2="$recorddate" 3="$recordtime">$vbphrase[most_users_ever_online_was_x_y_at_z]</phrase>

Make Sure You Add A <br> After The Above Text...

Meaning It Should Look Something Like This...

<div style="white-space: nowrap"><phrase 1="$recordusers" 2="$recorddate" 3="$recordtime">$vbphrase[most_users_ever_online_was_x_y_at_z]</phrase><br>
<em>Legend:</em><b><font color="#FF0000">Admin</b></font> – <b><font color="#FFFF00">Super Mods</b></font> - <b><font color="#0000FF">Mods</b></font> - <b><font color="#FF3399">VIP Member</b></font> - <b><font color="#00FF00">Members</b></font>

It's merely a simple string of HTML, and some people don't even understand how to change red into blue or #17226a

I just don't understand people.... God, so many vegetables on this site.
