Yup, have smoked for 25+ years. Disgusting habit that I am trying to kick, with no success yet. With the price of cigarettes down here in Aus @ $10.00+ for a 30 pack, it could be a windfall for me if I can stop!!

Cheers

I quit January 2nd of this year. I've been on the patch for the last few days, haven't had a cigarette at all.

Man, do I want one... Just one! But I know that one will lead to two, then four, then a pack and then I'd be right back to where I was. So I'm sticking with it!

But it's hard...

I've smoked for goin on five years now. Newport 100's in a box are what I smoke, pack (20 - 25) a day. I pay $2.59 for a pack.

I should add that I live in North Carolina, and a great deal of people around here smoke. There are nearly no limits on smoking in public places and we make a great deal of money on the stuff. For example Newports are made about 45 minutes from my home.

I need to quit, but you know, I drink a lot of pepsi to. ;)

That's cheap! Around here, a pack of Marlboros is almost $5 at a smoke shop. About the same at a gas station or 7-11.

I was buying mine at an Indian reservation, paying $32 per carton - $3.20 per pack.[/QUOTE]

Brad

$2.59 isn't cheap, when I started I paid about $2.00 a pack. Cartons go for about $20 for most brands. The cheaper brands range from $1 - $1.50 a pack.

These are from local stores, some charge more of course. I'm aware of how cheap they are, we have a lot of people moving into the area from up north and it's all they talk about. Some have even started smoking more per day now that they can buy them for less. ;)

I honestly get sick when I'm around smoke.. so I personally don't. And I'm lucky that only about.. 4% of my family smokes too. (including aunts/uncles, grandparents, etc)

Not saying .. it's a BAD thing if you smoke. I'm just lucky cause I haven't had to grow up in a black cloud of toxics. ;)

It's funny how most of the smokers here are coders hehe. This is where i differ :p

I think that cigerettes are extremely nasty and cause you to get tons of things, aside from a bad smell. To be honest, i've seen drugs that may be less harmful than cigarerres. Marijuana for example is illegal, and yet it's still far less harmful IMO, the only reason it's not legal here in the USA is probably because the government does not make money off of it.

I quit smoking the day they took out my gall bladder...

Got pissed cause I was in pain and couldn't get my cigarette lit, so I threw them away and never touched them again.

Add to that, my 10 year old daughter asked me to quit sow e could "have more fun together".

I love my kids....

I don't smoke often.. but everynow and then I do. Socially I guess you could say or just when I am stressed out. I smoke only Camel Turkish Silvers and I have had one pack going on 1 month now haha....

The most I have ever smoked in a certain time span would probably be my vacation I took with a couple of friends last July... Alcohol tends to make me chain smoke... during that one week I went through 4 packs.. which is a lot for me.

Cliffnotes: It's not a habit for me...

I prefer Black & Milds myself

I smoked for over 30 years. If people need help quiting, that smoke-away works well in removing the edge and irratability that you have when quiting. Cleanse out your system well too. I quit using that and it made it a whole lot easier than patches, gum etc. Although 3 months later I started back up becuase of being on the road, I just thought maybe I'll only smoke on the road. HA

I did re-quit a year later and am now over 3 months free and traveling. Still miss it, but had to quit.

Hope that helps those that want to quit. A bit expensive for it, but has worked over all the other things I've tried.

I wish i never start smoking but i did. I started when i was 16 years old and had an injury from my knee. I was playing basketball in eczacibasi but i had to quit because of my knee injury. I was getting way to bored at home so i decided let me smoke a cigarette. That is the worst call i made in my life.

I smoked for almost four years during high school, but I quit two years ago during my first year of college. It's one of the few things that I don't regret from high school. If anything I think it helped me figure out that there's other ways to deal with stress than smoking and drinking.

To be exact, - and I have gotten this from a reliable medical source - Marijuana in small amounts is not harmful at all. In fact, it acts as a great anti-depressant. I've never used it though. Just as like I haven't used any other drugs. Cause I am never depressed. And, cause just like with smoking according to Revan, it IS for losers :D And cause the real inspiration comes from within :D

Started smoking when I was 13 :( Smoked 'til my husband (boyfriend at the time) and I got serious enough to start thinking about getting married and having a family together, then quit cold turkey.
