UAE, logged onto my site today, and it crashed for him. He thinks it might be a style issue, so he's going to check that aspect of it out later.

My "beta testers" have been playing with vbpager to try to fix the issues. We love the hack, and are just trying to help here, as always. Thought you might find this interesting:

I've reduced AJAX to the middle level, and people still get the IE crashses. I have now gotten rid of AJAX to see if anything improves.

I think I'm getting something, I just uploaded the original style with no modification to any template to Darth Gill's forum, and only did the pager template edits, everything seem to work fine with IE, so I guess it's some other hack or a template edit conflicting with the pager hack.

1) It's either you close the pager message or reply to it, that is a respond!
2) What did you mean by the chat box? is it the whole pager online/buddylist page closing after hitting the send button? or just the send new pager form which should close after sending the message.

When you reply to a pager message it closes once you click send. We should have the option to keep it open so we can continue conversing with the person. At the least this should be an "option" which we can set. Seems like many others have this same issue/complaint.

How do I respond to messages I received when I was offline ? Right now I can read them and delete them but there's no way for me to respond to them ?

Can we have multiple conversations going at the same time? It would be neat to see it in multiple windows. And of course, the window closing is annoying.... :) Maybe make it an option?

This is a great way to engage those who wouldn't use chat in a conversation. Surely the option to keep it open wouldn't hurt, right? And besides, AJAX beats flash any day :)

hey all, i havent read all 300 post but i want to put in my $0.02 on the pager, maybe this has already been discussed..

first, good work on the plugin, very cool idea. works good.

second, a suggestions, i find it kind of hard to use. its hard to reply to pages that you get and its hard to reply to pages that youve missed. i think more reply options are needed.

Like I said before - I can't get my users to use flashchat. Anyway, surely adding an ADMIN option wouldn't be too difficult (turned off by default). Making the script more flexible would be more attractive even if you don't necessarily agree with or even understand all future uses of it. That's why vbulletin is powerful and popular.

I have a small forum. It doesn't have very many people on it at the same time. People come to my board to engage in serious discussions that last, well sometimes YEARS. When we do see others online, it's nice to just page them and continue chatting with each other. We are all very close and know each other online and offline. However, it's a hassle to go to the flashchat and wait for someone to come and visit us because we could be waiting for hours.

Anyway, my users like chatting with the pager system vs. flashchat. They like one on one conversations, and they like the convenience of not having to open up a Flash based chat window to communicate.

Ok I am at a loss. I have read alomst every post in this thread. I found one regarding my IE crashing problem. I have done all the needed updates. And i even checked windows updates to make sure i am up to date on all updates. I have the latest IE with sp1 and all updates. Yet mmines and everyones IE is crashing as soon as u get a message. I cant even get to my board now cause i have pager messages waiting for me and when i get there it crashes.

Anyone have any ideas?

I do think it would be good to at least add an option (a check box maybe) to quote the page the person is replying to (if it is a reply) so that you can keep up with a conversation. I understand the reasoning behind not keeping the window open and turning it into an "instant messaging" program, but I do believe that an option to quote a page would benefit the users.

Found a problem in IE. Not a problem in firefox. When I receive pages in IE, the text is centered instead of aligned to the left. I am using default style - unmodified. See attached.

I find it most interesting that people are having problems with this. It worked for me right out of the box, I'm running FF on an iMac and IE on a PC. No issues. Not one of my users (about 2100) has mentioned they have had a crash. I didn't update my IE either.

My users really like this hack. Now it's a bandwidth hog at 15 second intervals but that's it's biggest issue that I've seen.

Please excuse my ignorance here... I am nervous of using any type of chat scripts.

How much of a bandwidth hog are we talking here? In relation to say, showthread.php?

The IE crash I think is an IE problem. I've been using this successfully with Netscape and or FF, without any problem, and I don't notice it to be having any adverse affects on my bandwith. I've basically told my users to switch to a mozilla based browser; we've been having problems with AJAX as well.

If you really need to stick to IE, you might want to make sure of the folloowing. They've helped a bit with mine:

Make sure that you don't use domain.com in any of your links; use www.domain.com.
Turn AJAX completely off.

It's helped for us, if you really need to stick with IE.

Ummm installed but getting an error when I click Page User, the bottom of my IE screen says "Error On Page"?????

How can I find out what the error is?

Do you think its a style problem? I have a few styles on my board, because my members like a little variety, and I can't stand the original vb colors. If it is a style issue, what would be causing the crashes?
I'm almost positive it's a style problem. UAE came onto my board, and that was his determination. Although, we don't know EXACTLY what the problem was, why does one style work, and not the next?

I click the drop down....and it shows me my sent items...but it says I have 1 unread message on my forumhome, yet it doesn't show the message in the pager screen when I click the inbox button

Having the same problem was there a fix for this.

I just installed this running 6 templates went through brilliant the first time I am using IE I have tested it about 50 times with sending and recieving not got any errors on any templates the pages go through on all templates seems to be working perfect I dunno if this helps but I am running windows XP sp2 (locally) all up to date updates server side I have php 5.0.5 and mysql 4.1.14-nt appache server I am not finding any problems with this at all..maybe there is not a bug in this hack but more a bug depending on what versions of things are being run on servers, versions of windows, mac etc because the hack appears to be working itself just depends on whos running what this is a awesome hack easily installed in less than 5 minutes on my site with all the template changes excellent work very very nice..

well I remember seeing a hack that allows you to remove your name from the list, but I don't think it was for invisible users, it was for the administrator.

This is strange indeed "It works now for some unknown reason" and all I've done is install VBSEO to the forum and remove the password protection I did for the admin folder.

Now work that one out?

The link is not showing up above or underneath the private messages. Spent ages trying to install this hack which is not taking a few minuites.

I have tryed evreything with the navbar and usercp and still nothing is showing up. Ian't go to a page to test if it works because it is AJAX. Some help would be appreciated...

But on my testsite i run 5.1.1 (IIS 6) and on the test site i have no IE problems!?

I still have no idea, I have installed the hack on like 30 plus forums, and none had any problem, but the only forum I came across which had my IE to crash was Darth Gill's forum, and the cause of that was the style.
What I did was installed the original vb default style with no midification, then edited the templates which pager needs.
Can I have a look at your forum?

would it be possible to play a sould when you get a new page ? so that the member can choose no sound, sound on ajax page and sound on every page.

I often have our guild forum in the background open and it would be cool to hear when i get a page but I don't need to hear it if I get the page via page or while browsing :)

Well, I don't know, but I've discovered that if you turn any of the AJAX features off in your admincp/vboptions/general area, vbpager won't work. At least, not for me.

Do you have the radio button for ALL AJAX features checked??

i have this to say....it doesnt happen on mine mate..

it HAS to be an issue with another hack you have installed....as theres reports all over this thread that contradict each other...
some say its ok, some say it crashes....

In the box which shows the users online, beside that it has a checkbox to tick the ones you want to page, This could help fools and people trying to advertise mass page all the users online. How can i disable this completely or have it only enabled for the admins?It's already there, and you can define number of user selection they can send to.

I just spent the last 45 minutes going through everything, even checked everything in the xml file to make sure it was all there and added correctly in my forums. I went through the installation 3 times, step by step. Still gives me the same thing. :disappointed: I can't find what is causing this

I have some users I send an pager who don't get a pager window and if they click on the "Pager Messages" link they get an empty inbox althougt it says 1 new page message on the forum homepage

One of them uses IE, I tried IE myself and had no problem.. I try to get more information from them.

suggestion: the export as txt messages of the inbox/outbox is great, but it would be cool to export the messages i received and sent to a specific user .. so you get kind of a chat history

I figured out my IE error ---

it was the calling of an EXTERNAL CSS file
once I took that out of the header and made it rely on VB entirely - it's smooth!

Also not showing up in the user control panel, nor in the user profile, nor in the quick links.

Admin account has nothing to do with that, if you Have set the time period for AJAX, then it should popup for all with no refresh.

That would require a code modifications to the original vb's file, and the buddy list already available in vbulletin has some other use, where if you got someone in your ignore list, you won't be able to see his/her posts, and they won't be able to PM you, I didn't want my Pager hack to have such thing, but uses it's own lists.

Is it saying Unread 1, or total is 1?

It says 2 unread now because he got another one. If I look into my send box it also says the message I sent him is unread.
He said he can open the inbox but it's empty then.

EVERYTHING works except the "send xxx a pager message" in the view member info...I've looked at the template and it's not there. All I need is the code to put in that template.

like I said vbpager pops up for my testers account on his computer. I have a mac and safari on os x. I wonder if vb pager isnt mac browser friendly? Because it never pops up for me. By the way I recommend 30 seconds or higher on the ajax refresh for this vb pager script. VB pager was the result of some high server loads and hanging if it was set to below 30 seconds with enough users on.

OK...seems to have installed fine, but is giving me many hassles. I installed it on my test forum first, thank God.

1st problem: Each time I try to access a page, I get a security message (see attachment)

2nd Problem: It opens a window and tells me I am not logged in, even though I am logged into the board. OK I have figured out that the errors I previously posted about were exclusive to this computer, it's running Win 2000 Pro and my other 2 computers are using Win 98 SE.

I have the errors figured out, it forces me to login in a window within the main window for some reason. However, it is not allowing me to send pager messages. It will bring up a window with the users name in it, but when I click on the name nothing happens at all. As I said, this is all being done on my testing forum, so it's not occuring on my main forum. But my members are really looking forward to this so I am eagerly anticipating getting this working. I can provide a test login or whatever you may need if you desire.

OK, I FINALLY have this working on my end, after playing with my Internet Options and security settings to see why it wasn't working. Is there some kind of synopsis of how a user's security settings are supposed to be set in order for this to work? I don't really have time to help each and every member of my forum to configure their security settings and pop-up stoppers and everything else. I have my girlfriend helping me test it from her computer, and the messages are arriving in her inbox, but they are not popping up like they are supposed to. My members are frothing at the mouth waiting for this feature to be installed, but I want to be able to install it without having to be tech support for each and every member. Please help! :nervous:

Had my girlfriend try that on her computer and it didn't work. I also had two AOL users test it out for me and it didn't work for them either. The messages aren't popping up, but they see they have new pager messages and they can download them from the box, but they are not popping up for them. On mine they are. Works fine on my end now, pops up and everything, but no one else can get them to pop up.

Updates are:
1-Out of BETA.
2-Added a new Admin control option: Control the width size of the new received pager message box (For Large Avatars Forums)
3-Added a new Admin / User control option: Enable Sound notification on new received pager message.
4-Style fixed.

To upgrade, Redo the modifyoptions template edit from the README.txt, upload the new file pager_sound.wav from the zip file to your forum dir, and import product-pager.xml (set Allow Overwrite to yes)

Ι think i ve found a little bug.(i really dont know if this is a bug or the way things should work)

When i right click on "Pager Messages" in forumhome and select "Open in a new tab" in Firefox 1.5 it redirects me to the page i m viewing that moment.If i just click on it then it shows the popup window like normal.

I dont know if anyone noticed that,i m using vbulletin 3.5.3 and Firefox 1.5.

This require vB Pager 3.0.1 + Installed.

From phpMyAdmin, run this query:
UPDATE user SET pagersoundoption = 1;where user is your user table plus TABLE PREFIX if you got one.

If you want to change the default value for the sound option to all new registerd users and make it enabled by default.

From phpMyAdmin, under the user table, edit the pagersoundoption field and change the Default value to 1 then save it.
Or run this query
ALTER TABLE user CHANGE pagersoundoption pagersoundoption SMALLINT( 6 ) DEFAULT 1 NOT NULL;

aah, no it won't be checked by default, I dunno, but I thought some users may find it annoying or something, so I had to leave it turned off by default, and they can always trun it on whenever they want!
The pager message box already pops up right on their faces, so it's already a notification ;)

Still cannot use ff to send a pager message as it shows as no characters left to use.
even when logged in as admin.
As soon as i enabled the sound option IE 7 crashes, I have done the IE update thingy.
Still the pager message popup is nearly the full height of my forum :(

It does not matter if were admin or a registerd user, it's all based on the Number of Maximum Characters Per Pager Message you entered in the vB Pager usergoup persmission.
Make sure it's greater than 0.

Okay, Make sure you have uploaded the wav file, edited the modifyoptions template from the latest ReadMe file, and enable the sound options from both, ADMINCP and USERCP.

User table is the user table from your vb's database, if you were using a TABLE PREFIX, then add that to the UPDATE Query :)

This may seem a dumb question, but I have searched and read through and I'm not clear how this actually works in tmies of when it checks for and pops up messages.

In the description it says:

"# vB Pager AJAX Check Period control.
# vB Pager Display Window Refresh Period control ."

So, does this mean that a refresh takes place (Ajax) to check for new messages on the server, or does a complete page refresh occur? Does it also check when you load a new page? Can you switch the Ajax refresh off completely so it only happens when you change pages/refresh manually?

What does "vB Pager Display Window Refresh Period control" mean?

Some things I noticed:
The popup is misaligned with Opera.. It's too far down on the website.

I just installed the pager but I'm using opera too, so there had to be a solution.

I added an if condition to the PAGER template below

doesn't work with the browser...

I have a recurrent problem with members who advertise through PM and who will certainly do the same with vBPager. When a spam-like PM is reported to me, I usually warn the user with a copy of that PM (I've installed one of the read-PM hacks). Do you plan on adding an admin option to read the users' messages?

I just installed this and i'm having some fairly major issues.

1. I have no way of editing the permissions for any of this. In your one picture you show the vb pager permissions at the bottom of the usergroups manager screen. I get none of those options.

2. My entire forum is repeating at the bottom of my footer. And it's repeating at only half the width?????

I'll keep looking through it all to see if I screwed up the template modifications, but I've done so already and haven't found it yet. I'll go through it again though.

With two people logged, floodsetting at 1 second, paging sometimes is less than a second, other times it is a minute.

EXCELLENT HACK, installed it on 3.5.3 and is working great in Firefox and IE6 (SP2)

Also I saw somewhere in the last 27 pages where someone was asking about weither you could be able to TURN OFF the sent messages by default but I didn't see a response. I would like to turn that off as it seems to fill up a little to quickly when you send a lot of messages.

When Uae was testing this on my site, he also found that removing the css scroll code helped prevent the IE crashing.

I just installed the pager but I'm using opera too, so there had to be a solution.

I added an if condition to the PAGER template below

This is working for me - I tried it also with 'Identify as IE' within opera which was working too...

The problem is that

var ie=(document.all);

is true for opera but

if (ie)

documentWidth =truebody().offsetWidth/2+truebody().scrollLeft-20;
documentHeight =truebody().offsetHeight/2+truebody().scrollTop-50;
}

doesn't work with the browser...Well' Opera is not XHTML, W3C Compliant, and I am not using Opera, neither my members!
But I'll try something to sort that out.

Voted on this for HotM.

I have a recurrent problem with members who advertise through PM and who will certainly do the same with vBPager. When a spam-like PM is reported to me, I usually warn the user with a copy of that PM (I've installed one of the read-PM hacks). Do you plan on adding an admin option to read the users' messages?

ThxI don't think I need that option, but I don't mind IF anyone willing to create an add-on to read PAGER messages from ADMINCP :)

I just installed this and i'm having some fairly major issues.

1. I have no way of editing the permissions for any of this. In your one picture you show the vb pager permissions at the bottom of the usergroups manager screen. I get none of those options.

2. My entire forum is repeating at the bottom of my footer. And it's repeating at only half the width?????

I'll keep looking through it all to see if I screwed up the template modifications, but I've done so already and haven't found it yet. I'll go through it again though.Send me a pm with a user account to your forum.

My options in usergroup options aint showing up. I tried the old, open a phrase and save it trick, but didnt work. Everything else seems to work ok, but I only want this feature for certain usergroups, but cant see options to get it to work for them

My site has less than 10 people on it at any given time. What would be a good reload time? This is my first real time playing with ajax so I don't know much about it and how much it will affect the server.For the online users pager page, I would use 60 seconds, and for the AJAX Period, I wouldn't use less than 10 seconds.

Also I saw somewhere in the last 27 pages where someone was asking about weither you could be able to TURN OFF the sent messages by default but I didn't see a response. I would like to turn that off as it seems to fill up a little to quickly when you send a lot of messages.

Same here, I finally got it installed and all it does is crash IE for my users. Uninstalling until this bug is put to rest.I'm sorry to see that, but you need to upgrade your forum to at least vB 3.5.0

interesting ey? thats the odd thing.. it didnt start or atleast start to be reported by users until last week. I thought it was and STILL COULD BE some other code i had that might have been sloppy.. but there isnt anything.. lets see if others are experiencing this..

The only problem I seem to be having (not REALLY a problem) is that when I click "Logout" to log out of my forum, it doesn't completely log me out, even though it says "all cookies cleared"

Several of my members have also said it will not completely log them out of the forum. Any idea how to fix this?

More and more of my members are complaining about this logout issue... it will not completely log them out of the board (and it does the same to me)

Are you sure it's this hack causing the problem? Do you have vBadvanced cmps installed? I know it had a problem with this. If you have it installed you should go check out their forums for the fix.

No I do not have vBadvanced cmps installed. But it didn't start doing it until I installed this Pager hack. The hack works fine and everyone loves the Pager, but many are having trouble with it logging them completely out, including me. It's not a problem for me, but some members have kids and they don't want them to "stumble in" by accident.

Folks,

For those of us with medium/big boards out there... be very careful when you install this hack. With a 20 sec ajax check period and a 120 sec window refresh period set in the ACP, for 150+ simultaneous users, apache processes doubled and my avg server loads went from 0.2 to 1, with several peaks of 9 during the day... And this is a dedicated server...

I have disabled this hack until the weekend when I'll be able to play with the settings a bit, but not sure if I'll keep it, even though my users love it.

Here's my experience.

This is a wonderful mod that works very well. I enabled it for admins, mods and premium members only. That about 60 people in total.

I'm on a shared host and average load was around 4. Once I installed this mod, the load shot up to 16+. Yesterday, my site was shut down by the host because load went over 20.

The host and I tried to test what was going on. My site was reset and I disabled the paging system. The load would stay aroun 4. I enabled the pager system and within a couple of hours, the load was back up past 16. I disabled it again, and down came the load.

I request of the author to check to see if there's any way to make this mod less server intensive. I really need it but can't use it at the moment.

from the looks of things in this thread, there's a lot of fires to put out. so no rush on my issue. i'll just keep an eye on this thread and contact you again when it doesn't look so crowded in here.

Got working with IE, thanks for all the support threads... I have custom style, so I had to delete CSS code in my body (style for scroll bar) and make CSS part of the file system. Now its working perfectly, hope that helps other users :D

I have also some increasing server loads from before under 1.0 to now sometimes up to 10, tried to disabling for a short time vbPager but saw no difference.

I would be interested in a responce to this also before I install. I have over 3000 members and dont want to loose performance after installing this hack.

You are getting the error for `profileviewpermissions` as it is the first one in the list. You can try contacting the module developer and ask him if there is any .sql file that can be used to create the necessary entries. If not, you can ask him if you can provide you with the SQL commands that have to be executed.

Thank you!As I said befor, you can always set the number of maximum stored messages from the usergroup permissions, which should force users to delete old stored messages.

For all who thinks vB Pager's increasing their server loads, I'll be releasing an updated version (3.0.2) where an Admin will be able to disable/enable the display of the avatar images, which should cut one query if Avatar was disabled.

If you want to change that and make sure all new registerd users should have the sound option enabled by default.

Go to your phpMyAdmin, from the user table, edit the pagersoundoption field and change the Default value to 1 then save it.

the issue is IE crashing. I saw the faq that was posted about it, but i can't guarantee that every visitor is using latest IE. Something out of my control.

Most of my members can use this fine, but sometimes get a delay. I recieved a page went to the pager box and none were listed. 33 minuetes latter it poped up on my sreen.

However when I try to page a user, i select the user, and click page, but it just scrolls to the top of the page. All usergroups are set up exactly the same, so it is not a group setting, and I have it enabled in my user cp.

Any ideas?

One question

If I page a user then he gets a reply box
but after I get the reply from him back I don?t have a reply box anymore.

*EDIT*: Ok I found why it behaves this way but the "Can Use Allow Reply Option When Paging Another User" feature should set to standart "reply = yes" if set to no.
It makes no sense to not allow users to reply as standart but it makes sense to not allow users to disallow reply by default ;)

I thought this was working fine well it is working fine but I just realized that in my userCP edit profile I have no VB options to turn the sound on I have reverted the templates, I have uninstalled and reinstalled (which caused my site to lose several hundred pages) rebuilt style, rebuilt bitfields I have done everything and darn it its just not showing the option for sound I have rechecked all edits over and over now I did this on my other site straight from 3.0.2 and its there the option it works perfect but doing it the upgrade way nothing it does not insert the sound option into the modifyoptions and the code is there I have even went as far as to delete everything and start over from scratch manually deleting the tables and fields it added..deleting all files from server then reinstall that way nothing...

Since the 3.0.2 worked fine outta the box so to speak is this a problem with those of us who had the beta on maybe? then upgraded is anyone else seeing the usercp option who did it the upgrade way.. going to keep working with this..I read back about 10 pages and saw a few things I already tried them unless I missed something if so I apologize and would love a point in the right direction..

ETA: I also tried deactivating several products incase something was maybe interfering still a no show..

ok, I installed this, and so far my members love it. I however am having a very bad day.

I try to send a page to a member. I goto their profile and click the link there. It pops up a box listing everyone online and pageable. I check his name, and hit page, and site there.

Someone pages me, I get nothing. I check on pages and even though it now says theres a new one, the box says none.

This is all using Firefox 3.5.0.1
Worked ok with a super clean install, but, the moment I installed any extensions, the pager stopped working.

Everything works fine if I use IE 6 or latest Opera build.

My GF is running the same setup as me, and has no problems.
Is there a setting in FF that needs to be tweaked?
(I'm running adblock, have the site whitelisted. Also have set it as trusted in internet options)

I'm stumped.

Sorry for being late, I was away...

I have 11 unread messages, but none of them shows up in the inbox. The sent box is empty.Can I have a user account to your forum?

what tables and entries do i remove from the DB to completely uninstall this?
i want to uninstall and reinstall from scratch.
please help.The Plug in manager should do that for you, just uninstall the product, and all the table entries should be cleared!

I thought this was working fine well it is working fine but I just realized that in my userCP edit profile I have no VB options to turn the sound on I have reverted the templates, I have uninstalled and reinstalled (which caused my site to lose several hundred pages) rebuilt style, rebuilt bitfields I have done everything and darn it its just not showing the option for sound I have rechecked all edits over and over now I did this on my other site straight from 3.0.2 and its there the option it works perfect but doing it the upgrade way nothing it does not insert the sound option into the modifyoptions and the code is there I have even went as far as to delete everything and start over from scratch manually deleting the tables and fields it added..deleting all files from server then reinstall that way nothing...

Since the 3.0.2 worked fine outta the box so to speak is this a problem with those of us who had the beta on maybe? then upgraded is anyone else seeing the usercp option who did it the upgrade way.. going to keep working with this..I read back about 10 pages and saw a few things I already tried them unless I missed something if so I apologize and would love a point in the right direction..

ETA: I also tried deactivating several products incase something was maybe interfering still a no show..Can I have a user account to your forum?

ok, I installed this, and so far my members love it. I however am having a very bad day.
I try to send a page to a member. I goto their profile and click the link there. It pops up a box listing everyone online and pageable. I check his name, and hit page, and site there.
Someone pages me, I get nothing. I check on pages and even though it now says theres a new one, the box says none.
This is all using Firefox 3.5.0.1
Worked ok with a super clean install, but, the moment I installed any extensions, the pager stopped working.
Everything works fine if I use IE 6 or latest Opera build.
My GF is running the same setup as me, and has no problems.
Is there a setting in FF that needs to be tweaked?
(I'm running adblock, have the site whitelisted. Also have set it as trusted in internet options)

Is this still in Beta...sometimes the "beta stage" is checked sometimes it's not...what stage is this in??
ThanksNo it's not a Beta, it is the latest release so far which I think is the most stable one!

Okey first of all i must say this mod ROX!!
To have an pager system on your own forum instead of loggin on your annoying msn/icq all the time is a really neat function.. So i have clicked installed :)

But i have some problems... :(
If you have two IE windows up at the same time, and reload one of them, you get instructions debug error message.. and you have to close all IE windows..

Firefox works, but not IE.
I have tried to read thrue most of your replies here, but maybe i missed this part if it`S already got a solution for it.

Any clues on this matter?

Like you are in FORUMHOME, and you got a pager message, then you clicked Ctrl + N on your keyboard which opens a new window, then you get a debug error message?

quick question....is there an add on to read users pager messages like that of the pm's??I haven't created such a thing, and I don't know if there was any :ermm:

I got mine working its the damnest thing all I did was manually type in the code instead of copy paste into the modifyoptions and it started showing maybe before it was not picking up the paste or revert and I did not type in the whole thing just the first few lines and then pasted the rest and now its working..maybe it did not reconize the change at first heck if I know I am scratching my head but hey its working so I am not touching it..

But something I did realize and don't know if this will be helpful I had my very first IE crash yesterday I have never had it crash me..only thing different was normally I am already on my site when a page comes and the page pops up but yesterday I was just going to my site and had a page waiting on me trying to load up very first thing while the page was trying to load and it kept crashing on me I had to go into phpmyadmin and delete the page before I could get to my site..but 5 min later while on my site recieved another page and was fine so I had a friend test it with me and it would crash on me everytime if I entered the site with a page waiting..so maybe this is where the problem lies is there a option or could be made a option to not open pages in new window or popup to list you have a new one but not auto pop it up maybe play the sound and show it in the VB pager thing you have 1 new page with the lil sound but..not pop it up maybe this would stop the IE crashing..for those having the problem..made me wonder how many of my users had tried getting to my site but couldn't..because they had a page waiting and was on IE..anyway maybe nothing to this but did it everytime we tested if I entered site with a page waiting..so thought it might be helpful..

Actuall, if you tries to look at your forumhome in only one IE, and a user send you a message, and you get your message everytime you reload the page or go to another page right!?
Well, that was happening here. And that works.

But say i want to save one page, and open a link (on the first IE i have open) to a new window, then when i receve a message and go to one of the IE windows, i`ll get the message...
But i can`t then go into the other IE window and surf while the vb pager is open.
It would be nice if this had worked, let` s say you was looking for something and had to find the rest text/link etc to copy into the vbpager..

This dosen`t work.
Then IE closes all windows you have opened, even this one:(

EDIT: Now my IE crased, and one user (test user) can send message to me anyways, but then when i try to get on the page again, i receve the vbpager message, but the same time the IE crases again..... :(

Explains better?

Installed to my 'Live' forums a few weeks ago, and updated on the 9th. We use numerous other hacks like the Geek auto-linker, ecDownloads, ibPro and others so was almost expecting some incompatability.
None of it! Installed flawlessly and my mods and admin have suffered no (zero) problems at all, remembering they use a variety of browsers (Firefox at home and anything from IE4 to IE7b at work)
First class hack, thankyou, the guys thinks it is the canine undercarriage....

Hi

I have not been able to send a message using Firefox, its as if the character limit is set to 0. I have checked this with my admin account also and still have the sam issue.

Also the page popup windows also grab my side blocks therefore makes it look a right mess...If you want a test account please let me know and i will pm you :)

Aslo still says xx amount pager messages in the navbar although they been deleted :(

Ref the IE problem
I thought it was a virus, it didnt affect me as I have IE7 but loads of users were contacting me going mad.

The problem is this:

The resolution is no good for us, however I fixed mine by recreating all my templates with AJAX selected to disable unsafe features.!

I display my shouts above the controls and have them in reverse order, can you set the scroll bar to allways scroll by default to show the newest post ?

This is how I would go about debugging my Hack (vB Pager)

1- I will make sure that my Forum's running at least vBulletin 3.5.0 or up.
2- I will make sure that I am using the latest stable browser (IE, FireForx, etc...)
3- I will make sure that all files are uploaded and I have imported the product, then check all the template edits.
4- I will look into the vB Pager Permissions under the Usergroup Manager for each usergroup that I want to give the permission to use vB Pager and set the desired permissions.
5- I will look into the vB Pager Options from the ADMINCP, and set all the desired options. (DO NOT FORGET TO SET YOUR FORUM DIR NAME WITH a forward-slash AT END AND START)
6- I will look into the vBulletin Options from the ADMINCP, and check the Forum URL (Site Name / URL / Contact Details) and make sure I got the correct url to my forum. (See the attached file)

7- If I still got a problem, I'll try the hack with the defualt vB Style (unmodified templates) just the pager hack template edits.

9- If you tried all the above and none help, then it's either I suck or you suck, hey just kidding, send me a PM with a user account to your forum and let me take a look at it :)
