I've used serverbeach in the past with good luck, go with a base dedicated unit - you don't have enough going on to overload it.
Most of us aren't going to drop quotes into your lap, you'll have to do some work to get what you're after.

i suggest hostgator.com, as they can handle vbulletin installations softly, they have a vb forum as their support forum... and the guys have really good reviews and rating actually... and i even got no points for the referee..lol
tryed them i got a quote from them they said cos i have 50active members i need dedicated

One minute you have 557 people signing up in one day, the next you have just 50 active members ? Makes no sense.
I can't imagine why you would need a dedicated server for just 50 active members - but still - have you thought of getting a VPS ?
and it would help if you mentioned what your budget actually is.

50 active a day is actually wrong..it's more around 180-250 active per-day. Sometimes the registrations spike from referrals, thats why we have had a bunch of sign-up's today.
Don't believe him? Then believe me :)
I'm the "Technical Administrator" there. Please, from this post on, keep replies to the topic's purpose (host recommendations).

Well it's hard to give suggestions when the baseline varies so much...
With something so minor as 180~250 active per day, your choice in hosts is nearly limitless - that's not exactly a huge site? Is there something specific missing in the data here?
What's the background with being kicked off repeatedly? Hosting illegal material? Short of porn, or torrents of some nature, how does one produce a spike of 2x the average regulars per day for one day of registrations?

not exactly a huge site? i only mentioned active, I didnt mention hits/guest's, which soars to 10,000 a day. The reason it's being "kicked off", is nothing to do with it's content..it has nothing illegal by any Country's standards. No "torrents, pr0n, etc".
As for registration: it's because of our user-base..they like the site so much they refer their friends there..whats so hard to understand about that?

Dedicated server. Geez.
You will not find a shared host that will take you on and be reliable. You need to realize that soon.
Also if you would manage the site better and not waste space showing the 500 members who registered today, which takes up a lot of server resources, you could probably make the best out of what you got now.
Good luck finding a reliable web server to take your traffic at 30 dollars a month. That is almost laughable when you have scripts installed that waste server resources.

If you supposedly have that much traffic - then stop being cheap with the host... It's a pretty simple equation - just pony up the dough and stop bottom feeding through hosts to try to save a few bucks - you've seen the net result of those actions already.

Pushing stuff on you? I'm only stating the obvious - there is no insult intended - I'd think as the technical administrator you'd have expressed these ideas to the owner already as it seems like you've been put into a bind with A) the customers desires, and B) the customers budget. Personally I'd be saying sacrifice - either via cash or elimination of some site trinkets, but something has to give.
It's simple logic - if you're using relatively reliable hosts already that are kicking you off for consuming either too much processor time or bandwidth, then the only step you have left is either dedicated/managed or colocated - none of which will start even close to the $30/mo mark.

You wont find anyone to take your site for 30 dollars a month. You need a dedicated server.
If he needs this to be translated into some other language for him to understand that then someone needs to.
What you need to do first is clean your site up imo. Stop wasting resources on showing all 500 users on the main page that registered. Why do you not just show the number. What the hell is the point of showing each user. Who cares who it is? No one is going to go down that list and read it. It is just a waste.

now, to jlaine: yes, I worded my post wrong, thats why I edited it approx. 1 minute before you posted. However, Thug is not online at this time because of the time difference (he's in UK, im in US, etc.), or i'd be making these suggestions..however, it's not easy letting him know how things work..he wants everything, but doesnt understand about the server loads..i've tried telling him to cut back on ad's, and hacks due to a high server load, however he kept adding more and more ad's and hacks without letting me know.

However your site layout is.How does a thread about someone in need of hosting end up with this statement??
He's asking for hosting, not a review on his skin. That comment was completely unnecessary and very childish.
It boggles my mind the way some of you people on this website behave.

Tyler, why are you struggling to pay for your own site? You only have about 5-10 members on your site. The one with the Blue Ball as the logo in the center.
I wouldn't use asmallorange either, I left them and there very overrated I thought after using them. And as others have mentioned you ain't gonna get anywere with ?15 a month searching for a dedicated host, if thats all you can afford you might as well forget it. It seems like your site has grown well, but your now at a point were you don't have anything like the funds needed to let it expand onto the server you now require.
If thats the case, maybe you might be as well closing your board to new registrations and removing a few resource hogging mods and features for the time being to try and stay shared host until you can expand.

As I mentioned above, if I was him seeing as funds are not there. I would close the board to new registrations and maybe even block bots with an .htaccess file for the time being as they will eat bandwidth, as well as remove some resource hogging mods and features. To both save on bandwidth and resources, and then maybe he can stay with a shared host as he is until he has the funds to do something about it.

When he unfairly called a hosting company like asmallorange crap due to his own incompentance.
I call it like I see it, deal with it. This guy obviously doesn't get it that it is not his hosting companies fault that they cant handle a high traffic site on shared servers.
His layout is crap, he has scripts running that only further his problems.
There are very little options for him.
Either get a dedicated server that is meant to handle that traffic and his scripts he insists on running.
Remove the registration hack and all 500 members being displayed, optimize his forum settings, remove the who is online, turn off thread view counts.
There are many things he can do to keep his fourm online if he can not afford.
Someone with as much touted traffic as him needs to figure out how to profit fast or he will be seeing red for a long time

Blue ball in the center? you've lost me..my site is acutally offline, lol..no forum has been setup yet because of time constraint's with current things here at home (cleaning up the house, making it ready to sell), and turning 18 in less than a week, so i've put my site at the bottom of my to-do list, lol.

lol go ahead and go to my site and call it crap and not join. I don't give a damn. I manage my site quite well thank you. If you want advice do what I say.
Turn off all the features that are not needed. The useless registration hack for starters.
Can you please give me one good reason for showing 500 names on the forum home of new members? What purpose does that serve?
Turn off automatic threadd view updates, remove whos online, remove whos online from forumdisplay and showtread as well.

Do you want me to kiss your ass and tell you you are doing a great job in my eyes? You aren't. It is crazy to have that hack installed on a server when you are complaining about a host kicking you off due to server resources.
Think what you want. There is not a shared hosting company that is going to provide what you want. So stop wasting your time looking.
I have plenty of useful advice to give, just not what you want to open your mind too. You want a easy cheap way out without changing your site.
Have fun with the search. It will only lead you to many many server changes in your future, as you continue to get kicked off one company after another.
I recommend spending 150 a month for a dedicated server once you figure out how to make money.

hum, ok, i think that Thug is not able to have a host, maybe his way to discuss things with us are a good reason why, and maybe he is right about the activity on his site,...
Thug... if you have that much visitors, you will have to invest on a solid host... don't think you will have low cost hosts for extensive usages... and if you can't afford that, do the same thing as many other forum owners... close the forum and leave the market, you were not ready to handle such activity...
when you plan to build a forum you have to manage activity on it... if you know that you will have hundreds of users and active members, you have to know that you will have to invest for a solid host... even a dedicated server... if you can't afford that, just plan to open a little forum first, no advertisment...
money is the goal on the internet... if you have hundreds of acting members on your forum, you have to handle advertisment, banners from sponsors, paid subscriptions... if you don't, forget that, you will never be able to handle the market...
you may have encountered a real deal with your forum, making it more popular than planned... so you have to face the reality... young or old.. experience is not always easy!

Yeah but for the price, if it gets him sorted for now. It's better than nothing and might serve his needs for the next 12 months!
Although I'm a little curious as to why you didn't take up the other guys offer about his dedicated server and share the cost with just two of you on it. That would have worked out at $58 (which is about ?30). The same as your willing to pay now, and his dedicated server might have had much better specs.

Nothing is going to help him. He is too stubborn to listen to anyone on here. Let him take that Celeron and then let him take on another site on top of his to help pay for that wimpy celeron and he will be right back here wondering why it takes 10 minutes to load a page.
lmfao
You even said your server resources were being overloaded, yet you think a wimpy Celeron is going to make that better?
Don't listen to anyone in here, and continue to have downtime and slow loading pages.
think your wrong there, cause as i stated i used my 15% of the server space thats all the problem was
you seem to banter on and your saying your the adult, think your gaining a bad name
i neva asked for your judgement just abit of advice on hostings

BamaStang,
You really need to take your personal issues with Thug and leave them out of this message board.
Plus:
Ok, Thug only asked for hosting help, not for all the other bickering that has gone on in this thread...
If it continues this and any other thread containing such deviations will be closed...
Chris
Chris just posted that before your last reply.. so that's your goal? To close the thread? Seriously dude, grow up. You're making yourself look like a complete fool.
If the figures TylerR gave are accurate you're going to need more than 512M RAM - you will be swapping to disk in no time, and crawl as a result.
yep when time comes i will upgrade to 1 gig
this just goin to get us by for a few months well hopefully,i was only using well not even 400ram at any one time, the server specs will be fine for now and got time to upgrade,

I gave him my advice. Like I said, you don't have to like it.
I guess I will just leave and let him burn then. I am not the one looking like a fool here. I am the only one that will say what I feel.
Thug can do whatever the hell he wants. I am done trying to help him.
I hope you enjoy that Celeron for the limited time it serves your site

The flaming thats went on in here is ridiculous.. however a valid point has been raised about that new server... Celerons are... well... a bit rubbish, they aren't good with any sort of heavy load at all, might be worth seeing if you can get the processor upgraded cheap or something...
ye i emailed already about this

Okay, this thread has served it's purpose..a dedicated server is what he's getting. Seriously, Brent, that bashing isn't doing you any good other than giving you a bad reputation here. It's not worth posting if you have nothing worthy to contribute to this thread.
can a mod please close this up now?
- Tyler
I also want to chime in about the Celeron. I would never think about buying a server with a Celeron in it, these procs are aimed at lower-end desktops.
Also keep in mind that you should not throw hardware at something that is a software problem. Figure out what you need and get rid of anything you don't, there is no need to stress the server for useless stats and the like. In time you'll need more powerful hardware if your forum grows, but please keep in mind that new hardware is no replacement for proper code!
You'll also want to have a look over at vBulletin.com's forums, they can help you get your box tweaked. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14
This thread has been closed because of the flaming.
