View Full Version : Am I the one who's wrong?

I'm really pissed off at the moment
Let's take it from the beginning...
I happen to be a member in one of the largest greek communities (perhaps the largest).
I found another site that had stolen some graphics from them that I knew the admin of the site had made them himself so I sent him a pm to report it.
He told me to create a thread in the Site Commenting forum he had so that the public knows about it and make a fool of themselves (the site that stole the graphics).
The thread didn't go this way as most members started moaning that it was pointless and "so what if they stole some graphics?".
So today a super moderator of the site closed the thread with a quote of a member that said it was pointless.
I had never mentioned my little pm conversation with that admin in the thread, as I think the opposite wouldn't be right for him.
I happened to have that super mod in my msn contact list so when he went online I talked to him about that and told him that the admin had advised me to make the thread. He was really rude and told me that the admin had told me so to get rid of me! I asked him what would be the reason to get rid of me as if he just replied with an ok (or didn't reply at all) I wouldn't bother him again. He just kept on being rude and at the end told me he too wanted to get rid of me and blocked me. :ermm:
I have sent a pm to the admin telling him the whole story but I'm almost certain that he wont reply, or he will reply telling me some stupid reason of why his mod did the right thing.
And I'm asking... Am I the wrong one? The whole situation just seems so... unethical to me...
Am I wrong? :ermm:

if you own the copyrigh to those graphical works then u have every right. if someone stole some stuff from my site i wouldnt hold a public thread about it because its none of the business or their decision. its between u and that site's admin and no one else not even their staff. if you want them remove, they should be removed. he even acknowledges their yours for christ sakes. just contact his host and tell them he wont remove pirated material. his host will most likely contact him and threaten to suspend his account.

No no no, you understood a totally different thing!! (probably cause of my bad english :o)
I found ANOTHER site that had stolen graphics from THAT site. None of MY grapchics or my site were involved. I just tried to help that admin as I appreciated his work and in a same situation I would want somebody to inform me. This has nothing to do with my site! :)

oh then disregard my post above but yes that is very admirable thing to do and its sort of rude to shrug you off like that. but after the community decided they didnt care, obviously the admin didnt, i guess they found a nuisance as they did not see it as a problem. dont feel bad though you did the right thing. i wish someone would do that for me if the situation ever arose.

You did the right thing and was trying to be nice. Seems that being nice these days doesnt get people very far. I would quit visiting that community. You did the right thing.

Thank you AN-Net and Corriewf :)
Urgh, that's why I hate Greece :( You try to help someone and they swear at you :(
I had quitted visiting that community some time ago because of a fight I had with some members but I recently started visiting it again as I decided I wouldn't quit because of some stupid members. However if that admin doesn't reply to me or isn't nice at his reply I will quit visiting it for ever. :(

My attitude has changed a lot over the last year or so, after realising that very same thing.

You did the right thing. Some people are just jerks. Don't let them bother you or doubt your own intentions.

hum, my 2? on your action Michelle... ;)
the admins of that site (like most greeks) are macho... "they" want to get rid of you maybe because they can't stand a woman that have opinions and is able to act...
maybe it's better for you to keep a low profile on that site, or simply go elsewhere and find some other cool community so you're not bothered again by that kind of actions they've made against you...

Thank you nexialys! :D
I can't keep a low profile, no matter how many times I've tried :(
And perhaps you are right, most greek men are sexists deep inside and think a woman should be very low profile otherwise she has no femineity.
I haven't thought about this that way but judging from other times I had in greek forums, you're probably right :disappointed:

Especially in regards of customer service.... :)Oh definately, some of the awkward customers I've had over the last 7 months have been a real eye-opener.

Well Michelle, if all greek men are like that then I agree with those that say you should join other forums, and Ill even extend that and say you should join forums ran by northern europeans :p
No but seriously, I can understand how its nice to be on a site where you can type all your weird characters without people giving you dodgy looks, but your English is very good, so you'd do well in any other forum that'd appreciate such a thing.
I know of a forum where the admin also goes public with such things, that is to notify users why a certain site ended up on their site's blacklist, not to hush things up again. I don't think I know of any forum thatd treat you like that for doing them a favour.

I know of some, but lets put it this way, they bring such actions such as bandwidth and image theft on themselves because of their attitude...
