I would like to have a hack (on my vB 2.0 beta 2) that would allow people who had a certain password to have certain forum permissions.
Like, at my board, a lot of people register w/ the same password (50 per group?) due to the fact that they are part of the same group. I would like them to be able to post/respond to posts in a particular forum, but only them. Nobody else can post/reply there, but can still view the forum.
I want to do it this way rather than usergroups cuz I got like 50-100 groups of 50-100 people in each, plus more registering all the time.
Please, if you can make this hack if its not to hard (ASAP) I would be VERY greatful.
it is a much requested feature and i think is on the to-do list of the developers for one of the v2.x releases.
nono
not password access forums
like, say these users sign up
Member1
Member2
Member3
Member4
Member5
when they sign up, for their account, they all use the password "testmember"
i want a hack so that I can set forum permissions, for every user that has their custom password set to "testuser" (nto that pw, but like that, not a general forum PW)

Uhhh...no offence or anything but you've been posting that same message over and over in tons of forums.

I am aware of that fact. I trying to see if all these people posting "REQUEST" crap have taken the time to read the rules.
Why request? Why not learn to do it yourself?
1. theres no rule against requesting
2. people do not have time to spend 5 months to learn PHP, learn HTML, learn SQL...
why not give a helping hand instead of just posting the same message. he was not even breaking a rule!
He didn't do [REQUEST]
if you notice he dd Request :
that is not breaking rule #5
Anyhow I think what he wants is a password for people to post a message, anyone can view the forum.
So like for news area you could give a password for a few to post.
This way you don't have ot move them out of the group they are in.
actually, this seems like a pretty cool idea
i think what he is saying, is that he has many individual users, that when they signed up, each chose the same password. i think he wants it so that... well, say I signed up here, and chose the membername "Flare945" and the password "vbulletin". I think what he is saying is that he wants it so that all users that have their password as "vbulletin" can post in a forum, while the rest can only view it.
It is actually a pretty cool idea... if I understood it right.
Actually, I think what he's getting at is that there would be a password for the forum, and that password would be given to users who are allowed to access that forum - a little like protecting a directory on a webserver with .htaccess.
two things. he didn't do [REQUEST] and two some ppl that have no idea how to use or do php need help, They can do this through examples and the pros, how are they gonna get any ideas if nobody speaks out and says what they think should be made.
kier, once i made that response, he pm'd me.
he said i was right
